My friend in Helsinki has two Edwin Reyes pool cues and I've
tried them a couple of times and I think they play quite well,
they feel like custom cues and the woodwork is nicely done.
I don't know about the prices because my friend got them as
a sponsorship/gift from Edwin while living in the Philippines.

Haven't played with his standard shaft often enough to comment on it.
The ER8 is an 8 splice shaft. Hits very similar to a 314 shaft, based
on my experience and on that of some 314 users. I noticed that
squirt-wise, there's virtually no difference between the ER8 and a 314
on soft to medium shots. 314's squirt less on hard shots. The 314
also felt slightly more 'powerful' than the ER8.
The ER240 is a 240 splice shaft. I only used this for several weeks
though. Hit feels stiffer than a 314 shaft. Squirt-wise, I didn't
feel any noticeable difference between the ER240 and the ER8. What I
did notice however is how the ER240 seemed to be more powerful. I
consistently get more draw or follow using it. Sidespin doesn't 'fade
away' even until the cue ball has almost stopped rolling. I have to
stress however that this is all subjective, from my experience with
it.
I'm not too sure about the prices though. I just borrowed the cues
from Edwin Reyes. =D
He's posted here several times. Try doing a search on him so you can
get his email address. Maybe you can communicate with him directly.

700 for JUST the shaft?!!? does it have less deflection than the 314?
does it generate more spin?

I have owned a Capone and tried a couple of Edwin Reyes cues.
IMHO, Capone has a much more nicer finish and also a superb
hit ! Whereas Edwin Reyes cue seemed to be quite ordinary
and have a nice hit. But, my opinion would to choose Capone.
Of course this is only my opinion, you should try both to
make up your mind.
.002"-.0065" per layer!! What's up wit that?

Gregory-- must be making them out of maple paper

Mike Collier -- thinks 24 layers is more in the realm of believability

Capone, Capone, Capone, Capone, Or maybe Capone.

>>>>>>I think I might have the answer. You use flat laminated stock
1/40th" x 1"=40 peices make 6 pie shape cuts- glue them back togather
just like 314 shaft now you would have 240 peices. It may play simular
to 314 shaft, but I'm guessing the shaft with 240 peices is heavier.

Maybe I'll try to count them again the next time I get my hands on
one.

This means that, all along the pro taper out to the tip itself on a 12.75 mm
shaft, each radial laminate is 0.00657" wide on the outer surface alone and
narrows into almost nothing as it approaches the center of the shaft.
This is almost equally hard to believe as is 240 flat laminates. Because of
the necessary porosity of the wood in order for the glue to work, this would
be almost all glue and no wood.

The hit of course, is very subjective.

Good point, I didn't realize Edwin has changed his finish, I think
the cues I've tried are around 3 years old and I could honestly say
that I could feel the inlays through the finish quite clearly whereas
the Capone I owned had the best finish I've ever seen. But, the
Capone was brand new.... so the comparison made wasn't really fair.
