Has anyone in Canada heard of a pool table with the brand name of National
and are they good tables? Apparently they were made in Vancouver.
Thanks

Yes they WERE from Vancouver, but are no longer in business. IMO, no they are
not very good tables at all. They mostly "specialized" in shuffleboards.

There were 2 companies that I know of that used the name "National".
"National Shuffleboard" (I believe they were from Orange New Jersey) which
also made pool tables. They made most of the tables used in the chain "Royal
Family Billiards" formerly located in Cincinnati. The other is "National
Billiards" which started out making tables in 1880 here in Cincinnati. I
suppose there could have been others that took the name of National as well.

This is true.

National (from Vancouver) built a range of quality. They built 8 foot, 3/4
inch slate POS home tables like nearly every other pool table builder, even
Brunswick, but they also built solid quality tables in a variety of sizes,
styles and finishes. There are still many of these solid quality tables in
use right here in Nanaimo.

Pacific Avenue Billiards in Saskatoon, Saskachewan, Canada has 7 National 9
foot tables, amongst others. They play very well, and these ones have quite
tight pockets (no squeezing two balls at a time into these corners). The
seem quite well built from what I've seen (they just got new Simonis over
the last couple of weeks).

BTW, a reasonable little tournament is scheduled for later this month,
$1,500 CAN for first. If anyone is interested in the details please let me
know and I'll get them (I'm not good enough to play in that one). There
should be pretty decent competition with players in from Manitoba, lots of
Albertans, and a few from BC sometimes.

this was specifically National Billiards of Canada - and yes, they made a
very high quality clone of the old Brunswik Anaversary

I've had my national pool table since 1960. Needs some recovering now but it gave me many years of enjoyment. I have no complaints at all.

I have a National with Itan -Nic-Nic rails. Someone who moved it for us from my grandfather’s house said that it only had a serial number so it must have been built by the father and that would make it pre 1897. Can’t find much information other than that on the internet.
