I am wondering does anyone own one of his cues?? What do you think of them??
What type of balance do they have.....are they butt heavy like a Meucci or
more forward balanced???

I have owned several of his cues. First of all, there are two varieties of
the bludworth cue (leonard bludworth and then his son's cues). The leonard
bludworth cue is the one that you should buy, it has a single red dot on the
butt plate and no other obvious markings However, his son's cues feature a
red circle with a B on the inside...STAY AWAY FROM THESE.

Many people seem to really like Mr. Bludworth's cues. I on the other hand
do not. I had some serious problems with him in the past with cues I
purchased from him. For one, I purchased a cue and it warped a week later
and he would not even return my over 20 phone calls and emails. Other
players have had much bettere experiences with Mr. Bludworth.

As far as playwise, they don't particularly play exceptional as far as I'm
concerned. They are more forward balanced and don't hit or feel like a
Meucci in any way.

I hope this is some help...I had a bad experience with his cues, but many
players seem to be happy with them so keep that in mind.

The Leonard Bludworth cuess (not the sons) are the ones sold on his website
correct?/ I mean I never heard of his sons at all?? What is so bad about
his son's, and how would I run into one being that I might purchase this cue
from him at his website??/

there is no longer a bludworth cue company if i'm correct...he has a new
line called excellent, or superb cues or something like that he makes.

John,

I believe Leonard has recently switched his logo from the red dot to
the "B" with a circle around it on the butt plate.

His cues are deliberately very forward weighted. My 58 inch cue has a
balance point at 19-1/4 in. from the rear of the cue (not counting the
bumper). Meucci's web site says they strive for a balance point
16-1/2 inches from the rear of the cue. The 2-3/4 inch difference on
the balance point is astronomical. Mike Bender is another exceptional
cuemaker who strives for a 19-1/2 inch balance point. He prefers
straight pool, nipping at balls, and using an open bridge; this cue
balance seems ideal for this type of game.

Leonard makes a great-playing cue for the money. Most importantly, he
is (was?) a player and knows how a cue should play. Many other
cuemakers can't play a lick; however, they sometimes make a great
quality cue that looks good, hits nice, but might not be a good
playing cue.

A guy on my team has a Bludworth that has a solid red dot. It was made
by Donald. It balances right at 18". For a little while I believe
Leonard made cues under the name "Priviledge" although I never saw a cue
marked that way. If someone advises you to avoid a Donald Bludworth
cue, I would imagine it's because of the acrimonious breakup between
Donald and Leonard, at the very least. My friend loves his Bludworth,
and wants to buy another, and he can play. I hate his cue, so go
figure.

What? I never heard of this? Will I still be able to get one of his cues
shown on the website. Perhaps he is making a production line now? Or are
these just rumors? hmmmmmmmm

Same cues just under a different name....I think he got into some financial
trouble and had to bail out.

Call Leonard at (830) 232-5991 before you decide not to buy one of his
cues. I'm amazed by the number of people that ask questions, about
certain cues, in this newsgroup that could have easily contacted the
cuemaker directly.

Are you saying that Leonard's opinion of Leonard's cues would be more
helpful than players who have used them? Chances are, he likes them!

Bob,

I totally agree with you. I meant calling the cuemaker concerning
things such as balance point, if they're still in business, or what
trademark they're currently using on their cues.

Take care,

Knowing the game is crucial to cue making! Also knowing woodworking AND metal
working and material/glue compatability is essential. Many guys never learn the
basics first,go out and buy unneccessary, over elaborate equipment and go broke.
Greed creeps into quality,no short cuts will allow a perfect job. Its really a
heartbreaker to thow out that beuatiful piece of work if something goes
wrong, but sometimes one has to "bite the bullet". Im not speaking of this
fellows cues,i have never had a opportunity to hit with one,im just a ramblin!
Thanks for staying awake reading this Regards,Mike

I called him and talked with him. He's pretty cool. I ordered a cue from
him, so now I wait. Thanks for any info you've all given me. I
