Well, no, not really -- att discontinued usenet and this google
thing went pretty much as I expected. Plus, it's a pain to use (it
even BOTTOM posts automatically for you -- eek!) So, I'll have to
see if I can figure out another way.

Hi Lou,

I usually use google just because it's so easy and is available to use
no matter where I am. But I realize that it is also a favorite for a
lot of undesirable posters, so a lot of people just block all google
posts. Therefore when I want to make sure a post is seen, I usually
use: http://recgroups.com/ - it's free and web-based as well, though
you do have to register.

Google groups are a pain. But if you replace news.eternal-september.org for
your old att server, everything else should seem the same as before. Free
server.

Thanks, Carter. I'm trying recgroups with this post and it seems pretty
good, except that new members have a time restriction. IOW, you got to
wait in betwen posts for a while.

John, I couldn't get eternal september to work. RSB wouldn't come up, but
thanks for the suggestion.

Hmm, I know it works since it is what I use for RSB. Did you register and
get an id?

Yes, I did all that. BUT, with yours and Duck's encouragement I went
back and tried it all again and, for whatever reason, Thunderbird let me
get the groups to list this time, so that's what I'm using to reply.

The only downside that i can see so far is that I'll have to re-swat a
bunch of IDs :-)

Thanks guys.

If you know how to use your file manager, all you need do is copy your
rec.sport.billiard.dat file from the old directory in profiles\news\? to
the new one in profiles\news\news.eternal-september.org\ folder.

Thunderbird will uses this file to filter the newsgroup, and nothing
needs changed other than copying the file to the new newsgroup folder.

On the other hand, not too many names need filtered any more. FL and
possibly the new guy is all you need for now...

It has always been only FL, and I think "the new guy" is another FL
alias too.

$.02 -Ron Shepard <--IMO, of course

Oh geeze, the last time I told somebody, to go fuck a duck, that was
back in 72, this VP pulls me into his office saying my expense
accounts are double, 3 times the other salesmen, and I'll be god damn
I am going to pay for your bar tabs, your hos and your golf at
expensive country clubs any more. At the last industry golf outing
you won the event shooting a 69. Fook, you could go on tour. Any
salesman that can break par, is not working, he is living on the golf
course. I said, dude, that is where I do most of my fuckin business
at. In the bar.

And I said, go fuck a duck, I'll be at the country club playing 36
today, I have decided not to work until your attitude improves, give
me a call, and you might want to check on my months orders and
bookings. I walked out. I had recently booked two million dollar
orders. When he saw those, he called his secretary, and said, go find
me a duck, and bring her in here please and then shut the door.

Grasshopper, many try to be me, but there is only, one me.

FL has lots of names of course, but my filter log is just about empty
except for FL hisself. In other words, if Lou filters one name, he
will get 95% of the fast one. At one time, you needed 100 names or had
to do whole groups, like yahoo and gmail.

> $.02 -Ron Shepard <--IMO, of course

That was my opinion the first time I saw the name shawn barely. I may
not have bet the farm on it, but I was about 65% convinced just by the
name, add 30% more after a couple of posts, and clench the deal his last
few posts. Posting as shawn barley he looked like a guy on the ledge,
teetering, about to fall off into the abyss. I haven't bothered to zap
him like a bug yet, but I've had the bug light hanging in the doorway...

His writing style seems much different than FL I think. FL can only stay
normal for a short time too. I don't think this guy is FL. I could be
wrong though. FL has fooled me a time or too just never for long.

I agree with you Ed. I was suspicious by the 3rd or 4th post of SB.
But they post from different IPs. SB posts from Vault Networks,Inc,
where FL posts from BellSouth.net...

I think its him. The very last post I read had some Asian racism in it plus
putting down the play of others plus general incoherence. He just can't
help himself.
