Ran across this appallingly poor eBay listing of a Sweetwater cue:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300029184582

Anyone know if the maker, Jeff Bonner, is still around? Last RSB post
that mentions him or Sweetwater Cues is dated in 2002. He was in Olive
Branch, MS.

I don't know what happened to him but he had bought out Legacy cues,
changed the name to Sweetwater and then later closed up and was trying to
sell all the equipment on e-bay. Never heard anymore about them. There was a
lot of equipment and materials.

I can find out tonite when I go to work, there's a fellow that I work with
that knows him and probably knows his whereabouts, he used to work with both
Meucci and Jeff. The equipment was for sell on Ebay back in late 2002 or
early 2003 for I believe $200,000 including the building and such, it was
some of Meucci's old equipment located on old 78 at craft road in Olive
Branch because I recognized the location from the Ebay listing, I was
collecting alot of the old Meucci cues at the time and came across the
listing via the lookup on Ebay. He had started out to make a better cue than
Bob Meucci and had taken some of the equipment and personnel to attempt this
but the cues were not very good, at least this is what i've heard over the
last few years. He had come up with the name sweetwater because I believe he
was from Sweetwater, Alabama and it may have been Legacy cues equipment that
he bought out. If you look at the cue butt tho you will see a distinct
Meucci butt bumper. You also can call Mike Erwin at 662-562-9009 and ask
him, he would definitely know.

What I understand is that Meucci's x-son-in-law started Legacy cues which
were very similar to Meucci cues but with a different weight system. Meucci
then came out with the low priced Maximum Cues to compete with the Legacy
cues. When Legacy finally went under the Maximum cues also were stopped
being produced. I was under the impression that the Sweetwater cues were
produced in the Legacy factory but I certainly could be wrong.

Thanks, Michael. There aren't so many cuemakers that we can afford to
lose one. :-)

You are probably correct on this. I just get the gossip that gets passed
around from person to person and that is subject to change radically from
person to person.
Thanks,
