Cutting new rubber cushions

What's the best way to cut my new rubber cushions? What the best knife to
use? Do I glue them to the wooden rails first for best stability? Any
suggestions would be appreciate as ths is my first time putting on new
rubber cushions, done the cloth before but never the replacement of the
cushions.

You could try using an electric knife...
