Anybody know how good Don McCoy for Des Moines, Iowa played in the 70's and
80"s? I know he won a world 9-ball championship and other pro titles but does
anybody else know much about him?

Don't know much about his past but currently he owns pretty much the
only "pool hall"(meaning tables other than bar boxes)in the Des Moines
area. Various leagues run out of there and he gives lessons. Nice
little place.

Don McCoy was a world class player back then and was well known among the
road players of the day. I remember a post from a year or so back where
Grady had mentioned the fact that any road player back then always had to be
real wary when passing through Don's territory!

I am not 100% sure, but I was under the impression that the above
spelling was a sort of alias that he used when entering tournaments.

Does anyone know if he still plays? I heard that he quit playing a
couple years ago.

Its Don McGaughey, pronounced "McCoy". I never heard of him winning a 9 ball world or national title but he was good enough to.
