There doesn't seem to be any big tournaments in my state. Do you have any
information about ameteaur tournaments around Madison, Milwaukee or even
in Minnesota?

There are rarely any major amateur tourneys around here, however,
there are weekly 8-ball and 9-ball tournaments at Cue-Nique in
Madison (home of Jerry Briesath & a great place to play), and at
Romine's HighPockets in Milwaukee. I don't know what nights
Cue-Nique has 'em anymore...I moved away from Madtown a few years
ago. 9-ball used to be on tuesdays, and 8-ball used to be on
thursdays, i think. Romine's has 9-ball on friday nights, and
8-ball on sunday afternoons. Not much money on the line, but if
you're just looking for some competition, you might want to check
'em out. I don't have any phone #s with me, but if you call
information, you can get the #s so you can get some more info.

Good Luck,
Derek

I live in the St. Paul area and between the Twin Cities, their suburbs
and Hudson Wisc, you could play in a tournament 5 nights out of seven
some weeks even more. Not major ones but decent.........The leagues, M-8
and VNEA have some decent prize money too.

Sorry for the confusion. When I said "around here", I was referring
to south central & south eastern Wisconsin. I didn't mean to infer
that nothing is happening in the twin cities.

I haven't lived there in awhile but I seem to remember a state
nineball tour that had stops in Milwaukee and Madison (as well as
others). Where do you live ?

There was also 9ball tournaments held for A,B or C class players held
in Milwaukee on a regular bases.

Romine's HighPockets (27th And Wisconsin Ave) is where I learned (some
would disagree) how to play and I'm sure there are a few pool bums
hanging out there that could point you in the right direction.

There are weekly tournaments held at Romine's High Pockets in Milwaukee,
located on 27th street about 3 blocks north of College Av, phone number
(414) 281-2212. There is a 9-ball tourney on Friday nights, $13 entry and
handicapped - several very good players play often (George Pawelski,
Willie Munson, Craig Powers), several "bad" players play often (I won't
mention THEIR names :) ), and many more play somewhere in between. There
is also a Sunday 8-ball tourney at 3:30 pm with many more amateur players in
attendance.

There is also a Monday night 9-ball bar table tourney at the Breaking Point
around 62nd and Greenfield in Milwaukee and several weekly tourney's at
Classic Billiards and another pool room (forget the name) in nearby Kenosha.

In addition to these weekly tourneys, there is also a BCW (Billiard Congress
of Wisconsin) tour which travels to various rooms in SE Wisconsin. The
regular season is almost over, with about 4 - 6 stops left and the state
championship being held in about 3 weeks.

If anyone is interested in any of the above, I can e-mail more information.

I've been asked to be the female player in a scotch doubles tournament in
Red Wing MN sometime near the end of March. Unfortunately, the guy who
asked me didn't have a lot of details, only some prize money info....he
didn't even tell me what establishment is putting it on. Does anybody
know any more about this tournament? It sounds like it's a pretty big
deal...with several different tournament formats and rumors of television
time for the winners.

If you know anything at all, especially the name of the pool hall or
sponsor! please send me email!

Thanks!
