I'm not the biggest Warrior fan, nor a season ticket holder, but I
have to comment about how the Warriors have been playing thusfar. The
Golden State Warriors are off to their best start ever as a franchise
at 5-2 and tonight take on the Chicago "Air" Bulls. They have done
well so far and appear to be playing with a good team chemistry. As
Mitch Richmond said "We don't have any head cases on this team. Just
a bunch of guys who wanna go out and play good basketball". Some of
the brighter spots this year have been:

Alton Lister --- Returning from his Achillies injury of last year,
Alton is providing ~ 10 rebs a game and some big inside
play that the Warriors definetly need(ed).

Tim Hardaway --- Tim is a second year player and appears well on the
way to playing all-star caliber ball. He is listed
among the NBA leaders in Scoring(~22ppg), Assists(~10)
and Steals (~3.5). Tim is also emerging as the clubs
leader on the floor, which is somewhat suprising since
he is a second year player on a team with some
established stars.

Chris Mullin -- NBA Player of the Week (week 1)
Mitch Richmond -- Headed for another All-Star year

Honorable Mention:

Tom Tolbert -- Scrappy forward from gArY's alma mater. Mr. Work
Ethic. Tom is the starting forward (ahead of rookie
Tyrone hill). He isn't pretty or spectacular, but he
puts his body on the line and gets the job done.

Tyrone Hill -- Rookie is still young and has a long ways to go, but
he is showing that he can rebound and score in the NBA.

Before the season the local media was really down on the
Warriors accusing Don Nelson of giving up on this year altogether by
trading Teagle and Bol for draft picks. It looks like Nellie has
something to show them-- a leaner and meaner and TALLER warrior team
that is planning on winning some games THIS YEAR.

It will be interesting to see how this team performs in the
long haul. Will they be able to rebound with the teams they play?
Will they begin to play some defense (especially on the low post)?
Will they score >200 points against the Denver Nuggets (I have tickeds
to January's contest and hope to see a *REAL* barn burner ;-)).

Go Warriors,
Go Stanford,
Go Colorado State Rams,

I believe the Warriors will more games this year than last. But the types of
games they have played are not as exciting than last 2 years (except for the
shoot-out at Denver). Last couple years, at times they played 4 small
players, usually 2 guards and 2 small forward, and Manute Bol. They play at a
fast pace. It was very exciting to watch; the only negative is that they
can't rebound and usually lose to the big and physical teams.

This year with Lister at center and Tolber or Tyrone Hill at power forward,
Warriors are playing a more traditional offense--set up offense. It is much
slower and !!boring!! than the run-and-shoot, but I think they can win more
games with it.
