couldn't have been that much. Bird wasn't much of a leaper by any stretch,
but with his other talents, does it really matter?
Well, Al, Rumor had it the sole of Larrys shoe boosted him
more than his jmp ... :)
Truefully, Bird had no leap.
Jeff
just like magic his jumoing ability obviously didn't hurt him because of
everything else he can do. like last night!

Doesn't matter at all, but it's still an intruiging question. Hmmm...I
remember him dunking on fast breaks, and I remember a reverse dunk
once. How tall was bird? 6'9"?

This is a joke, right ????
Larry was a great player and had many talents, but vertical leap wasn't
one of them - he barely got off the ground.

I think it was watching Bird that gave start to the "White Guy's
Can't Jump" saying. The man couldn't clear a line painted on the
floor, as evidenced by the amount of time spent on his butt in the low
post, he kept tripping on the foul line.
Don't get me wrong, the man could play. He just can't jump.

With Larry Bird's height (6'9") and awesome talent, he doesn't need to jump.
Because if he does... he might end up in the rafters of Boston Garden (hehehe).
Seriously speaking, the guy does not have the vertical leap of Jordan Clyde, etc...
BUT- he averaged 9.9 rebounds/game throughout his storied career. He even
averaged more than 10 during the early 80's and was among the tops in this
category. He can even block !!! Talent made up for his lack of jump... but
again, basketball is a game of talent, teammanship and skills... not jumping
nor leaping ability.
One more thing, Larry did dunk in the NBA... he even had some reverse dunks...
funny thing is that he looked ackward...

You do not remember correctly - Bird most certainly dunked in NBA games -
some rather nice ones too, I must admit.
Cheers

Uh, HELLO? THis guy is making a joke. Is it flying over your heads?
He remembers incorrectly because he just said he's never seen Bird
play. HEllo? I think it was funny!
