Well, since we're in the middle of Stupid Thread Season -aka summer - I
figured I'd start one of my own.

Who has the deepest voice of active any player in the NBA? I've gotta go
with Shawn Kemp.

Absolutely, definitely, beyond a shadow of a doubt:

LaPhonso Ellis, the PF of the Nuggets.

This guy would be a great bass in a barber shop quartet

Since I haven't heard the formal retirment announcement yet, let me put in my
vote for Bill Cartwright, or possibly Horace Grant when he imitates Bill
Cartwright.

Wrong sport, I know, but at the opposite extreme I'd have to say that
Lester Hayes, the old Raider cornerback, had the highest-pitched male
athlete voice I can remember. I seem to recall that Vern Fleming has
a falsetto, too, but I may be thinking of someone else.

Dikembe Mutombo, without a doubt!

(Most _surprisingly_ deep voice (if that makes sense) has to be Nick Van
Exel - he looks like a choir boy!)

(Which suggests another mindless summer thread - "most baby-faced players".
I nominate Van Exel and BJ Armstrong...)

Avery Johnson has the highest pitched voice in the world, let
alone the NBA.

And for deepest voice, has anyone heard ex-Warrior coach Al Attles
talk? He sounds like an alien.

Robert Parish has my vote.

I don't remember hearing Lester speak, but major league baseball pitcher
Dave Stewart (Who's he with, the A's? I don'really follow baseball.) has
the most surprisingly high-pitched voice I've heard.

THE deepest voice in the NBA (among active players) belongs to 'Super'
Mario Elle, now with the Houston Rockets. No contest.

And unlike some other nominees, he can put together a good sentence or
two. I doubt he could carry a tune, though. He kinda speaks 7
languages, for extra credit.

Dikembe Mutombo of the Nuggets has a deep voice too. In all those different
languages/African dialects he speaks (believe its 7 total).

Concur. I've talked to Mutombo, Kemp, Parish, PHonz, and have heard Harper
and a few others on the television. Phonz is way far ahead in the
deepness category .

(although I will admit I don't remember how Elie is , but I remember
listening to him on television and I would have remembered had it been
lower than Phonz).

So who has the highest voice in the NBA? THe first few that come to mind
are Ron Harper , KJ, Dana Barros, Tim Hardaway (weird, big men deep voice,
small men lower voice :).

I nominate for the following:

Smallest guy with biggest voice: ??? (Mark Jackson to throw a name out)
Biggest guy with smallest voice: Oliver Miller

I don't get it. Are you trying to tell me Laphanzo Ellis is a cattle/sheep herder with a deep voice? I thought Laphanzo came from East St. Louis, IL, not much of a cattle/sheep herding community.

Anyone that has heard the voice of Harry Glickman (a promoter that
brought the Trailblazers to Portland, and is now the team's honorary
President) knows that he has the deepest voice of any other human
being, let alone in the NBA! Try to catch a 'Blazer press conference
sometime, and listen for his very deep, very dignified voice.

Kemp's a good choice for an active player. But if you let me choose former
players, I'd go with Al Attles.

Oh, no! The two guys that come to mind are Robert Parish and James Worthy. I
think I'll give the nod to Worthy.

(Sigh.)

If CL were gay (and there have been rumors that he is, nothing confirmed), I
would stay "in the closet" if I were him. While homophobia exists in all
sectors of society, it is extremely strong in the world of sports (as well
as the military). How many professional athletes do you know who are "out"?
Especially males?

At any rate, whether or not CL is gay has NOTHING to do with his basketball
skills.

Sheesh!

No, it means the poster is gay and fantasizes about an encounter with CL.

You got me Matt!! Boy, I can't pull the wool over your eyes...I guess that
means my days in the closet are numbered. Is there any room in your closet,
well, I mean it kind of sounds like there was a hint of jealousy in your
response!! (and let me tell you I won't share CL with anyone!)

Seriously, I made the original post based on the rumors out of Duke and
Minnesota, and well if that offends Duke fans and CL lovers (or is it CL'S
LOVERS), then so be it!!

Go ( to Hell) Dukies, and Matt--he is all yours!!
