Kendall has not taken well to the fact that he's now #3 on the
team -- in stature and salary -- behind LJ and Alonzo Mourning.
He feels he should be the main man. He's also struggled with
injury this season, resulting in that bad FG%. He's a good one
though, and I'd hate to see him leave the Hornets.

Why is he upset since LJ is a #1 overall and Mourning is #2 while he is only
a #4? It is very sad if his performance is affected by this thinking.
After watching the Hawks/Seattle game last night, and seeing Dominique
surpass Bob Pettit's scoring record, I don't see why Atlanta would
let 'Nique go. And I certainly don't see why they would trade Stacey
Augmon for Gill - unless maybe to pick up more shooting. The Hawks
actually can field at least a very decent 4 in Wilkins, Willis, Augmon,
and Mookie Blaylock, and have Ferrell, spunky Steve Hensen, and Keefe
off the bench. Their main problems seem to be Air Blair, Jon Kontract,
and the FANS. My god, the game last night sounded like a tennis
tourney: silence in the seats and whispering announcers. Low turnout,
lethargy. The Hawks are a decent club, and winning as of late - what
will it take for Atlanteans to get with their team?.

Full agreement here. I see Hawks games on TBS, and it's absurd. Unless
it's Chicago or Orlando come to visit, the stands are half empty, and
the place is like a morgue--and Atlanta can be an exciting team. Being
from the Boston area, seeing this on TV makes me dream about being
able to purchase cheap seats (Hawks management must make them cheap)
and get good seats the day of a game. Celts tix are like heirlooms, or
the Holy Grail, depending on your perspective. And the Celts aren't
even that good anymore!!
Wise up, Atlanta, that's an NBA franchise you've got there. The
officiating may be a joke, but you've got Nique, Willis, and Blaylock,
so give the team a chance!

These opinions are mine; you don't think anyone else would say these
things, do you?

I grew up in Atlanta and am one of the few Atlantans I know who support
the sports teams for richer or for poorer. Atlanta fans rival those of
Cleveland as fickle front-runners. Unless a team has a true shot at a
championship, Atlantans will stay away in droves.
My claim to fame is that on my 15th birthday I was one of 792 (no, that's
not a typo) people who watched the Braves play against (I believe) the San
Diego Padres.
By not appreciating Wilkins while he's around, Atlantans are making
the same mistake they did for years when they didn't understand what a
privilege it was for them to watch Henry Aaron. It strikes me that they
seem to have been rewarded with a basketball team that is better than they
deserve.
Cheers.

Well, I grew up in D.C. but moved down here to Atlanta in '86. It's
not that the Hawks are bad (although they are), it's more that they're
just a _boring_ team to watch. Except for 'Nique, they have boring
players, a boring coach, a boring style of play, and a boring mascot.
That's upper management's fault, IMHO. You have to put a product out
that the people will go watch.
As a side note: the Atlanta Knights (minor league hockey) have had
more sellouts than the Hawks have this year. That either disputes the
claim that Atlanta is not a hockey city, or shows how boring the Hawks
are.
But, I've been a Bullets fan for years, so I know a thing or two
about boring basketball.
