The key on O"Bannon is he's good and local. Honeycutt would likely start
ahead of Charles if he were to signe, because they need a power forward,
they already have Ed and Tarver who are both small forwards. But what
Charles gives them is credibility in their own backyard, they lost so
many local recruits this year that they were in real trouble if they
didn't sign one, and they ended up getting the best player of the whole
group.
As Matthew pointed out, they now have a better shot at Cameron Murray
(who is a small 2 guard who may have to learn the point), and it makes
them more attractive to a guy like JR Henderson out of Bakersfield too.
Getting local talent is really important to UCLA because there is usually
enough players in LA that if you recruit well at home, you can be top 20
year after year, without having to rely on national recruits who are
often much harder for us to get.
COngrats to Harrick for saving what was a bad recruiting mess and hopefully
he'll get another player or 2.

Do you mean physically big enough? Easily. Charles O'bannonn is at least 6'7
and fairly well built. He also has excellent perimenter skills. He's not
a power forward at all so I don't think any lack of size should hurt him.
Adios.
