U know, I was going to ask this myself. For the most part, every
collegiate Division I coach I can think of has at least a BS degree
(and many have higher degrees as well). Did indeed Clyde finish up
at UH, perhaps after he returned to the Rockets?

FWIW, I caught some excerpts from the press conference announcing the
hiring, and Drexler said something like "I was thinking about what I
would do after retirement, and I thought I'd go back to school to
finish up my degree, and I thought 'Hey, I can do some coaching while
I'm there'". He was joking of course, but the comment suggests that
indeed he never did finish his degree.
Is UH a public school? If so, perhaps they have requirements about
posting notices about job openings -- it'd be interesting to see what
it says. I recall seeing the one posted in the local paper a couple
years ago when the Illinois position opened up after Lou Henson
retired (I don't recall the details).
Perhaps it says "Will substitute experience for degree" :-).

Yes, it is.

1. Drexler does NOT have a degree and he actually does plan to work
on it while coaching.
2. Public universities routinely go around the requirements that all
positions be opened up when it comes to coaching jobs. Marianne
Stanley's hiring at Cal springs to mind, no one else was interviewed
and - pow - there she was in the job.
