I recall Jack Buck saying something like CBS had to be off the air at 5pm CDT.
He then said that the game would be shown in its entirety in the Atlanta
market only. I don't know if this is a CBS policy or some stipulation in the
MLB contract with CBS. Anyway, I didn't like it either. I remember NBC
broadcasting games well past 6pm CDT on many occasions.

matter? I thought I heard them say that the Atlanta would see the game in
it's entirety. I'm ready to write a bitchy letter, but want to make sure it's
aimed at the right target.
Take baseball away from CBS before they kill it completely.

The Atlanta paper tv/radio sports columnist reported that 1) CBS decision
(not to show the whole game) was based solely on economic reasons (there
was no "legal" req't to be off of the air at any particular time); and
2) that CBS could have left the decision (whether to carry the game) up
to the individual local affiliates, but that for no stated reason, they
decided not to do so.
This latter decision makes no sense, esp for west coast stations that
would only be in the mid-afternoon, rather than the more lucrative news
time pgmmng.
By the way CBS bashers might be interested in this months Esquire mag
where they have an article on the CBS president, titled, "The Man Who
Mistook His Network for a Spreadsheet." Thank god for tbs ...

We watched it all here in NW North Carolian--channel 11 (WJHL) out of Bristol,

Most corporate stupidity is at least argueably understandable... but
the CBS guys are simply beyond comprhension....

As a contrast, New York's sports station WFAN continued to carry the CBS
Radio broadcast even when it ran over the start of the Mets game, which
they were supposed to broadcast - and this from the Mets flagship station.
Shows what happens when the people running the show actually give a damn.

Well, someone has to stand up for CBS. I thought the decision was a wise
one not only from a business standpoint from a baseball standpoint.
CBS's coverage all year has been superb. They did a good job chosing
games, the direction (camera angles, etc.) has been great, the commentary
insightful. I really look forward to watching all the post-season games
being done on CBS.
Actually, I haven't really seen any baseball on CBS, since I was busy both
Saturdays they broadcast. But I have the preceeding paragraph from
a reliable source at CBS, who by the way denies that CBS is trying to
kill ntework televised baseball, and claims he has no idea how anyone
could get that idea.
