Getting Out of a Hitting Slump - Watercooler Theory

Slumps are caused by a lack of confidence and hitting consistencey.
They are not 'the numbers' as reasons or faults. In order to obtain
more consistency, batters or hitters must try to hit the ball solidly
with more consistency. Overswinging and lack of decision-making are
the main causes of inconsistency. Overswinging is caused by an
attempt at extraordinary wrist-flailing that puts too much emphasis on
swing and usually results in a lack of hitting strategy that can be
much more efficient. Lack of decision-making is when a hitter is too
concerned over what pitch to hit, or mottled up with too much theory
to pull their hitting triggers at seemingly the most opportune times.
Getting out of a slump is not theoretically easy, so the best way is
to think of the ball as a water-cooler after an embarrassing
strikeout. As the ball approaches the plate, think of the ball as an
enemy, a watercooler, that must be punished. It's the watercooler's
fault, not the batters. As the ball approaches the hitting area,
smash the watercooler. This will result in a ball being hurt all over
the field. You won't know why, theoretically why the ball is so hurt,
but being angry and loose are the reasons that you will achieve
success. And the theory too is that you will never have to overthink
when the ball is a watercooler, you will just be 'a natural'.

My softball coach used to tell me to think that the ball was my boss's
head. It didn't work that well, but maybe if it had been a different
boss...

What's YOUR problem? Are you upset that someone else started a thread?

No. I don't even get upset when you start one. After all, how else
would I get to say:

The case for Pete Rose has been made and it has failed.
