Anyone read Mike Lopresti's article in USA Today last week, just before the NL
MVP was announced? He tried to "make the case" for both Sammy and MgWire. In
making his case for McGwire he didn't mention the fact that McGwire had a much
higher OBA and a much higher SLA, made far fewer outs, drove in a higher
percentage of runners on base etc. Then, making the case for Sosa he said (and
"Across the board he led McGwire nearly everywhere."
I just never cease to be amazed at how little these guys know about the sport
that it is their job to write about.
