Um, yeah, I think discussing *baseball* in a baseball newsgroup
is appropriate :-).
Think Stanford can win its third title
in four years? They look pretty good - pitching, power,
and getting on base. Can't really judge defense over one
or two games - anyone know how they are considered with the gloves?
What about The Citadel? Pretty good regional performance!
Are there any Citadel fans who can comment on the team?

Their D is supposed to be outstanding this year. I only went to 3 games this
year, from what I saw it was very good. Watch Roger Burnett at ss, he's a good
one. Hammonds can fly in center (nation's frosh of the year, a superstar in the
making).
This years tourney has only two of the regional's top seeds, Stanford and LSU,
so on paper it's very favorable for a third Cardinal championship. But you
don't win on paper (right Mets?).
They also have two of the top pitchers, Mike Mussina and Stan Spencer. And
also have their best power attack ever with Tim Griffin and Paul Carey.
Overall, they are much better than their two recent championship teams.

I think ESPN is carrying just about the whole thing. Illinois
was a pretty good team, but Mississippi State and Florida State
blocked their way... Iowa wasn't bad either. How 'bout that
Boilermaker baseball squad? (laugh, laugh...)
