What is CBS doing to us?

Jack Buck and Tim McCarver are not meeting my expectations.

The series is great so far (IMO) because the A's are getting beat. I am
not a Reds fan but anti-Oakland, and I loved the sign the other night:
"Jose Can-strike-out" in the 7-0 thrashing--although Wednesday's game was
a lot better game. Quite a performance by Hatcher--I scored game one and
noted at the end he was batting 1.000 and he still is--into tonights game.

I wish CBS would leave baseball to a network that knows how to do it--like
ESPN. Jack Buck didn't even notice Oliver had a hit in the fifth inning
of the first game (remember, I scored it and verified it with the news-
paper) and carried his mistake into game two. When Joe got his second
hit in the series in game two, Buck said: "That's his first hit of the
series." I also consider Tim McCarver to be a dork, (calling Mr. Hatcher
Mickey about three times) but then that's just my opinion.

My prediction (i.e. hope): Reds in six games (or less).

Ooooops--didn't get this posted before the start of game three!

Well, Hatcher grounded out in the first inning--stopping his streak, but
still has a record seven consecutive hits. In the third and the eighth
he singled but grounded and popped out in between. He still has a .750
average in the series through three games. (I scored this one too.)

Jack (off) Buck screwed up again, in the fifth, he said Willie Randolf was
0 for 3 before Willie's second time at the plate. Fortunately, I learned
Vin Scully was doing the CBS Radio broadcast and listened to that for the
rest of the game. All of ESPN's broadcasts during this season put that of
CBS to shame. Why CBS does not use Vin and a decent commentator to do the
TV games; it's a mystery to me!
