Well folks, tonight we found out the difference between a month of
preparation in a school gymnasium and playing at the #6 team in the
country's home crib... Arizona St. 23- Creighton 1

Devs score 11 runs in the 7th when CU couldn't throw a strike.

ASU scored 4 in the 1st to set the tone. Curiously, CU coach Jack Dahm
started a lot of newbies and didn't start their three best returning players
(Chris Hinrichs, Dan Lawler & Eric Brown). Cu also didn't start their best
pitcher, Dan Gooris. (The proverbial "team violations"?)

Sun Devils starter Jon Switzer threw a beauty of a game, going 7 innings,
giving up only 2 hits and giving up 1 run. He also notched 11 strikeouts.
The Bluejays looked like they were still swinging in the batting cages.

Unlike recent years, CU wasn't able to even scrimmage outdoors prior to
this, their first game.

Oh, the hooligan wearing the grammatically butchered XFL-like "He Hate Me"
shirt was somewhat entertaining. (Okay, I meant horribly under-educated) He
heckled the CU players with a megaphone. I'll give it to the guy, he had the
guts to do a karaoke to a Metallica song on top of the ASU dugout.

LSU fans (if any follow to the rare out of town games) should look forward
to seeing this guy when they come to Tempe.

Eric, we usually bring around 1000 to 2000 for road trips in the SEC depending
on the drive from Baton Rouge. ASU is obviously an expensive trip (airline
fares wise), but I have talked to a few of the people who have been looking
forward to this trip since it was announced two years ago. I wouldn't be
surprised if there were 500 or more Tigers in Tempe for the series.
