I'm new at the sport and I have the opportunity to buy a Ben Pearson
fiberglass 60" 35lb. bow. I'm told it would be a good beginners bow.
I'd appreciate any feedback on how good they are, etc. Thanks

I don't know exactly what a good "beginners" bow is, BUT, don't get a
super cheapy. If you shoot a terrible shooting bow and your a beginner,
it will you'll be digging a hole for yourself. It will cause you not to
shoot at your potential. When I first started shooting, I got cheap
bows and this is the problem that I also ran into. Go for a 4 or 5 year
old matthews. I shoot 3-d and indoors, as well as in my hunts. There a
good choice.

I don't know about the Ben Pearson bows, but a 35 pounder
sounds a little weak to me.
I got a Browning recurve 45 pounder when I was 12 and I never
had any problems pulling it back all the way. Good bow.
I'll be getting another one soon and getting back into
shooting.
A fellow I know in the city has a traditionally made Japanese
bow that he's going to be selling. It's more of a target type of thing
though with a draw weight around 45 pounds. I'm betting the samurai
had something with a bit more oomph :)
