I am trying to find out what a fair price would be for a bow I am
thinking of selling. It is a Jennings Black Lightning compound bow (30"
draw length, 55# draw weight). In spite of the fact that it is about 9
years old, it has seen little use. It has never been unstrung. (Is this
a problem?) I also have a Bushmaster canvas carrying case to go with it.
Can anybody suggest what price I should ask for this equipment?

Thanks in advance.

If you can get $45 for it, you would be lucky.

Is this because the brand/model is crap , or that it's never been
unstrung , and the limbs are basically perma-flexed ? I'd like to know ,
because I'm looking for a bow myself , but nothing that'll put a shaft
thru 1/4 plywood . Besides , I'm a small guy , and probably need a draw
length/weight comparable to a youth/ladies bow .

PS : Tom , where are you ? I may like to see this bow if you are serious .

I bought the identical bow with a dozen new arrows and points, a rest and a
basic sight for $175 (CAN$) 2 years ago. It had hardly ever been shot - it
was actually a local pro shooter's backup bow. Not a scratch on it. I really
enjoy it. It may not always be the fastest on the block, but I've never
broken it and it stays in tune.

There's nothing wrong with the Jennings name, it's just that it's not a
'cool' bow (i..e. - no toys on it). The fact that it's never been unstrung
is irrelevant for a compound bow.

The Jennings Black Lighting was not a bad bow, but it was
on the lower end of the Jennings line we sold a lot of
them.I hate to say it but bows do not have good resell on
them you can $600.oo for a bow today and sell it next year
and you will be lucky to get $250.00 for it. Most
Bowhunters buy new ones. $45.00 is about right you may be
ahead to keep it for a back up or a fishing bow
