>> Happy Birthday Marines!

Well...I pick on our friends in the Naval Service occasionally, but I have
to admit more than a bit of envy of them and pride for them, regarding the
way the Marine Corps honors its founding, each year on November 10th. I am
proud of my Army service, but without looking it up could not tell you a
firm date the Army was founded. It fought and won a battle award at
Ticonderoga, yet it its first infantry units were really established the
Second Continental Congress months later. We never observed it the way they
do. Nor does the Air Force typically do so, at least to the degree the
Marines do, though they did have a big go at it on their 50th anniversary in
1947 I believe.

Thank you for remembering all the branches for Veterans Day November 11th.

You are absolutely correct! I read your post on the 12th and
incorrectly "assumed" that you were saluting just the Marine's for
Veteran's Day. Regardless, thank you one and all, past and present!!

PS - Thx for the history lesson / reminder. I was unaware / didn't
remember those dates.
