Thought I would try to initiate a lighter-side topic...

I am trying to think up good personalized (vanity) license plates.
Assuming all the obvious ones like SKYDIVE, SKYDIVR, SKYD1VE, BLUE SKY,
FREEFAL (hi Brian), FREFALL, etc. etc. etc. are taken, does anyone have
any clever suggestions for skydiving related plates?

Email them to me and I will summarize all the ideas into a post for
rec.skydiving

Hi Marty,

My first plates were

BDYPLT1

The van has: Jump 144 after we set the world record

Impalla SS now has: Jump 201 after the near record jumps recently in Lake
Wales.

btw, good start of a thread

See you in "d" air, cool. A tandem master at Skydive Chicago has
UNIJUMP (you "n" I jump for dyslexics out there). I currently
have FREFALL as Marty pointed out, my second car will soon sport
HYPOXIA.

Marty,

Great post. I thought about this sort of topic a long time ago
and never did anything about it. As I mentioned in my last Email,
I'm FREFALL not FREEFAL (though the latter did pass me up going
home on I-80 one Sunday evening after jumping). I mentioned that
I ordered HYPOXIA for the wifes Blazer. She was not too happy
about that, but I pointed out that I did after all buy the car,
she merely drives it.

I saw the SKYD1VE at SDC. It was a Wisconsin plate. You can't
mix letters and numbers in Illinois. SKYDIVR was not taken last
time I looked. RIPCORD was taken, but the owner was deceased so
it may not be renewed. With the relatively new onslaught of the
radical side to the sport, SKYSURF may still be open. I saw
FRESTYL in Arizona. SKYGOD is always possible, but a little
arrogant. How about HOOK TRN? The whole gear industry is ripe
for pickin (SABRE 97, JAVELIN, VECTOR.

How about CUTAWAY. I got a million. I pass on a few from time to
time as they come to mind.

Warm Blue Skies (soon),

ARGH! This is when I get frustrated that Oregon will only let
us use 6 letters. I've seen SKY DVE (I think that's how it was
done, it may have been SKY DIV), and I think someone at skydive
Oregon has DZ BND, but the 6 letters max seriously limits us.

Also on a non-skydiving note, outside of a dentist's office, I
once saw "ICU4DK" (I see you for decay). :)

In Northern CA, there's a few that stand out:

EFS4EVR

TOPDOCK

SKYSCAL

(All of these belong to serious CRW jumpers. I'm convinced that
there's something about CRW that attracts the most extroverted
personalities).

Until recently, there was an Orgeon plate that read DZ BUM

A friend of mine used to have SKY DIVA on her car, but she gave
it up; she said the combination of the plate and her average rate
of speed got her stopped too often by men in uniform.

In CA we now have use of a few symbols: +, star, heart, and hand, which
gives us more options. There are so many skydivers here that it's hard to
get a plate that even comes close to making any sense, but with the
symbols, we have more options.
Already taken in CA:
SKY IDOL, SKY GODZ, XIT XIT, LUV2JMP,(HEART SYMBOL)2SKYDV, and I'm excited
to say that I was fortunate enough to get (HEART SYMBOL)SKYDVN. Can't wait
'til they're in!!
My advice: get what you want while you can!!

I don't remember who it was, Someone who did a base jump at El Cap. was
smart enough to remove their license plate because it had something to do
with skydiving. But then the guy put his buddys commercial or pick up
truck licence plate on his private passenger car. Yep they got busted.

Unfortunately in Ohio, you are only permitted 6 characters :(

I'm sending my application on Monday to the BMV. Any suggestions for
6 character combinations will be appreciated. Some of the ones I have
seen around the state are.....

SKYDIV
SKYDYV
5 LEFT
FREFAL

Two that I am going to apply for are: TRMVEL and INTNSE

By the way, you can also get Personal M/C plates but are limited to
5 characters..... I'm getting FLYME ( an instruction to paramedics if I
bounce the bike !).

Please keep posting and reposting on this topic, it's a good one!
