This march I will most likely be going to Europe to ski. I am a college student
and my parents and I will be going over.

I am looking for a resort that will satisfy us all.

Ofcourse I want lots of excellent skiing so I am looking at the larger areas.

I also want mom and dad to enjoy their stay. They might only ski a day or two
out of the week, so I would like somethig that offers alot for the non-skier,
especially train excursions for the day to places of interest.

A pretty, "quaint", Euro village or city is important, so I ruled out most of
France form what I've read.

Zermatt seemed ideal, but I've heard it is not that challenging of an area
(compared).

For pure skiing I would probably go with Verbier, Val d'Isaire, or the Three
Valleys. But what about these resorts???? Anyone?

Arlberg is great, but I've been there. Still an option though - would love to
go back.

Arlberg, Val d'Isaire, Zermatt, ??????

I know it sounds as if I want the perfect place, but any information or shared
experiences about the skiing and other activities (No St. Moritz) would really
help me to narrow down (or come across new areas) so I can put together a great
trip!

Thanks alot for any help.

Chamonix town has a nice old center with a clear view of Mont Blanc. Nice
quaint cafes, croissanteries, creperies and stuff. Best skiing on this
lousy planet too ;)

Horribly touristy though. One of those places where the waiters in the
restaurants greet people in English automatically, because they know 90%
of the customers will be foreigners. Good skiing & scenery yes, but not
the place to go if you want 'quaint French'. 'Quaint disneyworld' is
more like it.
