is there anyone out there with experience on the 8000/9000 equipe slalom skis.
they are touted as the top of the line, but there are few who can vounch for
them who don't sell them. it's hard to justify the $440 a pair without any
input. help! and thanks.

Yes. I can and I'd love to buy a pair of the 9000 for $440. I'm just about
to go out and pay $549!!

I demo'd the 9000E2S at Whistler several weeks ago (in comparison with the
Elan MBX16 in the afternoon) and the Salomons were GREAT! My current skis
are K2 TRC which I liked very much when I bought them, BTW.

But the 9000 have spoiled me; they were so smooth and solid; they
increased my ability and fun by several levels. I'm loathe to blame my bad
days on gear; but I've got to credit the 9000 for a very fine morning.
They held on ice and turned quickly and easily. I liked them a lot. Of
course I just started skiing this year...no just joking.

Well its hard to answer your question cause you must state wich ski and
what for. For example I have the 9000 2S and it is a great ski! very
versatile, a little stiff but if you are into slalom, it should be. They are
decent for off piste skiing and everything else...except bumps, don't overdo
it on those bumps, soon enough you'll regret it. Also they are very stable
at high speeds and if you have strong legs, you can really get the most out
of them. On the other hand if you want to ski moguls, offpiste, and jumps
not really caring about racing the Force9000 is good for that.
bottom line is, 9000 series is for high performance/racing skis (1S,2S,3S)
for extreme and all conditions, the Force is a good choice.

I've skied the 9000E2S since last year and love them. They
practically ski themselves. However, if you want a quick turning ski,
I recommend the 3S (i think thats the rapid gate slalom). I've found the
2S to be a better carving ski than my old pair of K2 KVC's, and much
better at speed, but not nearly as quick.

Heh! I got a pair of brand-new, 2-year-old 9000 3S (the rapid-gate
slalom ones) for $300 Cdn! I have to admit, they are REALLY nice
skis. By the way, I changed from K2 TRC's to my Salomons earlier
this year, when I got my K2's stolen...

I have a pair of the 8E2S Salomon ski's. They are fast, incredibly
stable, & turn beautifully. In my opinion they are well worth the money.
I demoed them before buying (along with the Rossignal DV-6) and it took
about 5 minutes of skiing on them to make the decision.
