Hi
I'm considering buing my fist board now
and like to hear some experiences....
I can choose between a Burton A deck , K2 juju or Dart, and a nitro
board (al ex-rentals but in good conditions)

Which one should be the best choice??
Greetings/Groeten Els Knotter

I'm in the same situation as you. I can only address the Burton
vs. K2 Dart question, since I haven't ridden the nitro or the juju.
But in my experience the Burton A deck and the K2 Dart rode very
similar. Both are soft, forgiving boards that were easy for me to
turn. Lots of people are telling me to buy the Burton instead of
the K2, and at this point I think the main difference between them
is the stigma of riding a ski company board vs. how cool you'll feel
on a "real" (if not rather Establishment) snowboard. Also, Burton
tends to have better graphics ;-) Now I have to decide whether to
buy the one with the cat on it, or the peacock, or the boring stripes.
Ride-wise, they felt the same.

I'm not an expert, just a beginner who finally felt that it might be
nice to get my own gear instead of what the resorts have for rentals.
I don't care if my board or boots are beginner-type, because I'm not
yet a connoiseur of the finer points of snowboard performance. But
in a couple of years...

I'm riding Burton A-Deck 149, love it. My husband rides K2 Juju 159, he
also loves his board. So I can recommend one of those, as I haven't
ridden any other board you mentioned.

Groeten,

I have rode both companies that you are intrested in, and from my opion I
recomend that you stay as far away from K2 as you can. When you first get the
K2 it is a good board and that should only last about one season. The next
season you will start to notice tht it is becoming de-laminated and the
stiffness that it once had is long gone. Then by your 3rd season you will be
trying to sell it for a new Burton deck. If I were you I would save my money
for the new 98'-99' Burton snowboards. I here that they top quality. But if
you are that desperate than go ahead and buy the A-deck. But eiter way you
will wish you waited for next year. and besides, it's too late in the season
to buy a new ride anyway.

Both boards are similar. I have a juju 149 from this year and a 158 from
last year. I ride the juju's all the time, but have riden the burtons
before.
Here is the pluses and minuses of each board:

Burton:
+ Better resale
+ Burton name
+ A tad stiffer so better at speed
+ Duralility: All the burtons boards (not bindings) I have had have been
bulletproof
+ Owners seem to love em
- Typically cost more
- Not as good all around
- graphics are love em/hate em - I hate em

K2:
+ Slightly deeper side cut makes for better carving
+ Great all around board (especially for spins). very light. Woodcore.
+ Whaletail on this years board stiffins board for jump landings
+ less expensive especially at an end of the year sale
+ durability: I have had 4 juju's, ride em to death, no problems
with board or bindings at all
- No metal edge wrap on noise and tail
- although k2 snowboards are their own buisness up in washington, they
are owned by a ski company
- graphics are love em/hate em - I liked the 2 year ago safary look.

I'd try to ride each one. I bet you love either of em. I'd go with the
one you get the best deal on, especially if you are gonna ride this
board
for a couple of years. If you are gonna sell it within a year, then
maybe
the burton might get a tad more resale, but K2 is a pretty proven and
recognizable company now as well. So is the juju. The dart is a detuned
cheaper board than the juju. Although the dart is a good board, I'd go
with a juju if you can swing it.

For the past few years, I have stuck with K2s. I get to ride a bunch of
boards, but for some reason I get on the K2s and instantly feel more at
home. I try more stuff and ride longer on em. It is a confidence thing.

Hope this helps,
Peet

Hi
I`v got the A-deck 159, and I must say that i'm not just pleased with it.
It's a cheap board og rides like it.
My advice: Wait for the next season and save money for a better board - and
remember: You don't have to ride a Burton....
