Arnell was purchased by the Yoshida Group of companies in Nov, 96. this is
the same parent company of MLY snowboarding. Currently Arnell has an
extensive line of apparel, and freestyle boards offered by MLY. Check out

A quick bit of research reveals the following:-

14 Aug 98 Mark Miller recommends a board from MLY, and says call
Dan Koscheski. This same message was sent twice for 2 different
threads.

4 Sep 98 Mark Miller recommends a board from MLY.

4 Sep 98 Mark Miller talks about new MLY riders Blaise Rosenthal, Chad
Otterstrom, Brad Scheuffele and current rider Risto Scott. Note this
for later.

4 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to someone's "anonymous" mail asking
about
One Track boards, no suprises that his response was MLY makes them.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds about Lib Tech boards (originally from
Brian McKenzie at Mindspring), some innocuous information, followed by
the obligatory plug for MLY.

8 Sep 98 Mark Millers board suggestions are for: yup, it's MLY again,
whilst at the same time slagging off the other manufacturers (including
Ride, Burton and Soloman!!!)

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to another mail from Brian McKenzie on
board construction, basically dissin' most manufacturers, but for once
not mentioning MLY.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to another "which board" question, this
time, conveniently from a woman, of course MLY has just the solution
for women.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to a question about Arnell, which was
bought out by...... MLY. Note this for later as well.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to a question about MLY's location.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller responds to someone asking if Mark Miller works
for MLY or just likes them - finally he admits to both. Ooooh Mark,
we never knew.

8 Sep 98 Mark Miller ask if anyone knows who the following guys are:
Blaise Rosenthal, Chad Otterstom, Brad Scheuffele, Risto Scott. Hmmmm,
did he not read his own posting on the 4 Sep 98???

Now, on this very busy day of Miller's, the 8th Sep, suddenly a new
boy turns up, under the pseudonym of Mad dog or mdo...@my-dejanews.com.

Mad dog's posts, all on the 8th Sep, are all about how great, sick and
cool the MLY boards are. At the same time, he slags off Donek boards,
saying that he broke 2 in one day, a claim worthy of pursuing! He's
also the person that asked what happened to Arnell, conveniently enough
for Miller (as himself) to respond. His best piece being in response
to one of Miller's posts (about the location of the MLY factory) to
say how sick the boards are, and that "Mark A. Miller knows what is
happening".

A quick look at the headers, shows that Miller posts via a home.com
account, his posting host is noted as being 24.1.170.135, which is
cx375794-c.alsv1.occa.home.com. The other persona (Maddog) posts
via dejanews, but from the client of 24.1.160.34, which is
strangely, one of home.com's proxy servers: proxy2.alsv1.occa.home.com.

Co-incidence?

I think not.

Miller's zealous marketing campaign was bad enough when he was just
plugging his product. But to make negative remarks about his
competitors
is out of order.

Thanks Dave. Should we forward this to MLY for review? They might
enjoy seeing how there company is being represented by an employee?

Mr Millers marketing compaign certainly doesn't comply with usenet
guidelines, see:

http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/hypertext/faq/usenet/usenet/advertising/how-to/part1/faq.html

In addition it may well be contrary to the terms and conditions of his
ISP: '@home'

Depends. Miller might be just a grunt, in which case, I'm sure
his superiors would be interested. Worse case scenario is that
this guy is the CEO/President/Designer/Top Engineer or whatever,
or that he's doing it with their knowledge/permission.

Their web site doesn't contain any info, but if someone within the
USA wants to call MLY to find out the position of this guy, then
there's the toll free number that Miller's been handing out
on 1-800-305-4138.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been monitoring this Group and both
asking and answering questions. Because I work for a Snowboard company I am
biased as I wrote in a couple of my posts. What I was really hoping to
accomplish is to determine who is really on this NG and the level of
expertise of its participants. When I ask a question like "who are these
guys" it is only to find out whether their names are common knowledge to
most snowboarders, as my company is about to spend lots of money working
with and promoting these riders. I thank you for your participation and
apologize if I have annoyed you. I hope that I have shed some light on the
questions that I have answered.

I will continue to check this group, so if there are any questions that I
can answer, I will do so a snowboarder not as an employee of a snowboarding
company.

In regards to Maddog, I have no Idea, however I have asked that my amature
team riders get involved and participate on the NG's due to their level of
riding and expertise.

Regarding Donnek, I know nothing about this company, nor have I or would I
slander them in any way.

Best Regards

Mark

What would an Arnell board be worth in today's market.
