Ask Karine Ruby about this. She rides on an Oxygen Snowboard and has won
seven out of seven Giant Slaloms this season. Go for the olympics! Bring
back some GOLD, Karine!

Just remember one little detail.... Oxygen is a fully owned company by
Atomic skis. They were never any good in making skiis(maybe skijumping
skis, but the slalom skis was crappy) , so I doubt that it is much to
have... You should rather consider some of the real snowboardbrands
like Burton and Sims, and forget the skibrands....

Wait how would you know anything about skiis? I thought you detested
everything about them.
So why would you care about the quality of the skis? Have you ever tried
any of Oxygen's
stuff?

Also Ruby just won in Nagano (yes I know you don't like Olympics but
work with me) on an Oxygen.
And if I remember correctly, the rider using Sims sucked it up.

To be fair, the conditions were bad. So I doubt that the boards had much
to do with it,
but you see how ridiculous this type of unfounded skibrand ripping can
go... Just try
the boards, IF you don't like them. No problem, but if you've never
ridden one, don't
go ragging about their quality. Just stick to ragging on them because
"ski-industry
shouldn't make snowboards because they don't understand the spirit of
riding" because
that's your opinion and you are welcome to it. However, the quality of a
product is a
much more tangible quantity and therefore is less subject to personal
opinion.

Ah yes... now I remember

Mike Faucett was riding on a SIMs board, when it basically
fell apart from under him... ;-P Oh dear, must be <poor
construction> those darn snowboarders never know how to
do anything right... tsk tsk tsk

Just to help you put things in perspective ...Burton boards in Europe
are made at the old Atomic ski factory near Kitzbuehel or at the
Fischer ski factory, yes by a SKI factory shock horror. By the same
workers who made the skis.
Tim.

There were several OXYGEN boards in the GS at Nagano, including, as I
recall, Karine Ruby, the Women's Gold Medal winner. Now we all know that
the racer's boards are not always made like the ones in the store,
identical graphics not withstanding. On the other hand, Karine won by 2
seconds in a 2 minute race, a huge margin.

On the other hand, I clearly remember seeing the word Oxygen on the board of
the French (?) woman that won one of the Olympic races...

1) Hermann Maier has Atomic skis.
2) The best DH team of the world (Austria) has for 80% Atomic skis
3) Atomic will win the producer world cup

4) Karen Ruby rides Oxygen (she won the olympics)=, even some men are riding
oxygen. I think at the olympics they were better than the Burton riders
!!!!!!!!!!

Oxygen makes some damn fine snowboards! I rode a about 10 boards last
season (including: Burton Custom, K2 Eldo, Sims Soul, Option Free,
Aggression Steel, F2, Hobie Ee, Shift Rad, etc.) before I bought the
Oxygen He 163. It was the best of the bunch for all out freeriding.
But...you are right...it is made by a ski company :-(

Well, at least next season I'll buy a board from a real snowboard
company, "Airwalk". SOL online raved about the Airwalk Select & Champ.
From the description it sounds like they ride just like the Oxygen
He/Vibe series. And, even the construction and measurements are just
like the He/Vibe?

Doh...Atomic/Oxygen makes the Airwalk Select & Champ. Oh...what will I
do now?

My point is, if you are going to boycott FIS, then boycott FIS. If you
want a ripp'n board, check out Oxygen.

Scott

Carbon fiber diagonal/wrapped poplar and with birch core true cap construction - torsionally rigged and smooth under foot. The boards were made in Austria and are very very dependable! Sold from Amherst NH they were new to the scene in the early/mid 90's. Yes the are made by Atomic and they rule!
