Am I dreaming or have I seen regular cross-country skis with steel
edges?

However, if you include backcountry skiing, some backcountry skis such
asd my Fisher E99s have metal edges and weight about a kilogram.

There's also FIS regulation which doesn't allow skis to have
metal edge, even if it's under base like those from Fischer were.

I assume by regular you mean trad length and double cambered?
If so, they are available. Check out Karhu's line at:
http://www.karhu-trak.com/ and look for the XCD-GTX or
the even narrower Criterium.
If you can find this year's version of the Fischer web
site, look for the E99. The Madshus Pellestova would
be another.
