Not sure where I heard or read it either. Normally, it would show in
the official results, perhaps also in the list of participants. Check
at http://www.fiscrosscountry.com/.
Btw, 8:45 am MT, the races are streaming live at NRK1,
http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/sport/spill/verdi/116714. Women's semis
just completed.

I'd love to be able to see any streams (Live or recaps) available in
Canada. Unfortunately, looks like NRK feeds are limited to Norway and
Universal Sports is MIA this year.
Short of Basil's 1+GB torrents and SkierPost's recaps (with god-awful
soundtracks), any other option would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Btw, just about all of these, including NRK1, requires IE or possibly
FF, not Opera.

I'm using a Mac (Safari) with all the latest plugins, however I have
to switch to Firefox to watch the abridged videos on Universal Sports
(ahem, MS Silverlight). I'll try both with the sites you listed.
If I find a reliable source, I'll post it here.
The FIS "Homologation Manual" makes for quite interesting reading. It
would seem thatwhile courses can be for instance Category A or B,
hills are simply A-hills or B-hills:

Thanks Anders. I'd scrolled thru page after page but didnt find that.
Who cares?
NRK had complete live coverage of everything, as usual. :-)
The final result was exactly as expected, i.e. Petter stayed with his
5-man group from the start, even taking the lead quite a few times to
keep the speed up.
In the final sprint finish he managed to beat Hellner and Cologna, but
afterwards he was quite dissatisfied, claiming that he didn't feel very
good at all.
It is also possible that some gravel had ended up in the course, the NRK
commentators claimed that Petter's skis had a big rip in them.

Wow!
Ski jumping muscles on a 3km continuous steep climb. That's gonna hurt!
Seems they'll have the same track to cover as the TdS ladies? Would be
interesting to compare speeds.
As always, I'm bummed that the ladies get to ski such inconsist, and
usually shorter distances compared to the men. The point-to-point race,
they only got the back side of the mountain, all downhill. Some sprints
they got the exact same course, and were barely visibly slower.
These shorter distances chance all the tactics. HAd the men been
allowed these shorter distances, the field might have been less diluted
from athletes choosing to train for the Olympics rather than do well on
perhaps the most pertigeous yearly event.
Women are slower, by some 10%, but just as tough over a distance. No
need to cut their distances at all, let along by more than half. Look
at the speeds they manage. Was it boring to watch when the men were
skating 23kph averages a decade ago? Now, the girls are doing that, and
better. Sexist bizz, winter sports.
It would have been nice to see, on the same day, how the NC skiers
compare to specialists. I bet the front of the NC field would prove TdS
worthy, being not off the back in term of speed.

AFAIK the combined guys and the cross-country ladies skied the same 9
km course. Felix Gottwald, the fastest guy, had a net time of about
33:30 while Kristin Stormer Steira, the fastest lady, covered the
distance in about 35:50, a few seconds faster than the 34rd guy, Alex
Miller.
OTOH the Finnish combined athlete Anssi Koivuranta and the
crosscountry skier Riitta-Liisa Roponen had made a small bet - the
story doesn't tell who proposed it:-) - that the one who would be
slower over the climb (starting at about 5.6 km) would have to dig out
his or her credit card after a dinner at a restaurant of the faster
one's choice. Koivuranta covered the 9 km course faster but lost the
best by six seconds...
Lukas Bauer was fastest over the men's 10 km course in 33:43. Felix
Gottwald would probably have been about 25-30th, depending on how much
over two minutes we must add to his time. (Unfortunately I couldn't
find any splits or official timing for the climb.)

A fairly sharp bet, as it turned out.
