Hi,

The traditional Finnish ski wax manufacturer Rex has updated its website.

Visit there for info of Rex products. The site is in beta testing phase
right now but it should be finalized within two weeks. different language
versions are also coming a little bit later...

Any comments?

I just went to look at the New Rex site with the simple system I have
at home. Could not view it.
I enjoyed the old Rex site very much. It was a straight forward layout
that gave good information about the waxes, not just temperature ranges.
I went by the advice of the web site in using Nagano last year at a race
and had great skis.
I do have some thougths about Rex wax. My experience is that the
absorbtion versus wear factor with Rex glide waxes is excelllent. Rex
Red glide wax: Yuk! For ease of use, the little zip lock bags were
great.
I think Rex hard waxes are underrated. The durabliity in my limitied
experience with them is very good. I use all the Rex klisters and OU is
my favorite for "spring skiing". However, if you want to encourge people
to use klister, you should use better quality tubes. You have to be so
careful to squeeze from the bottom and even then........more yuk.
I live in the U.S. so the big question becomes availability. It
becomes discourging to learn a wax line and then it's hard to get. I
think that is why more and more people use Swix and Toko here, they are
everywhere as is advice on how to use them.

Rex "skiwachs" brings back memories. We got our first XC skis (the
all wood skis) from REI as ski packages - skis, bindings, boot poles
AND a bag of waxes. I still have the yellow cloth Rex bag that came
with a collection of stick waxes - green, blue, purple, red and
yellow, and a couple of tubes of klister.

I still have some sticks of Rex grip waxes in the bottom of my wax
box, but have since gone on through the several generations of Swix
waxes and now Rode grip waxes (and Swix Blue Extra). Next season I'll
have to try out these old Rex sticks to see if there is some truth to
"better living through chemistry".
