No other mountain can make as much snow as okemo, but that still doesn't
make it a good ski resort. The mountain sucks. It has got very little
good expert terrain, and the layout is weak. It's not worth my forty
bucks. Not to mention, my friend had a really bad rental experience.

HA HA HA HA.......
Okemo is "BOARNING". There are few trails to interest anyone past the begining
intermediate level. They have "Black Diamond" trails that would be "hard"
green
anywhere else.
PLUS.... they sell "golden asshole" trail passes that allow the owner to
skip the lines at the lifts and go right up while i get stuck in a 40 min.
queue for my $45 bucks.
been there, tried it, forget it.
I won't go back. There are too many other fun places to ski in Vt, NH and ME.

2. Jay Peak
3. Smuggler's Notch
4. Stowe
5. Sugarbush South (only if Castlerock is open)
Okemo & K-Mart (Killington) are at the bottom of my list. Sorry but I
agree
with the previous posters, Okemo isn't very challenging for anybody above
the intermediate level. Their trails are so-so & not very challenging.
It is
a great place for any learning up to the intermediate level. Last year,
I
could ski there for free anytime I wanted to but I opted to pay Betsy
Pratt
for the priiledge of skiing Mad River. Ski it if you can!

Sping conditions are one thing pal, having a friend get carted off
to the emergency room with torn ligaments from a giant puddle of water
and slush where you get off the lift is another!!!
The management at Okemo is the worst I have seen in 9 years of skiing.
I dont give a shit how warm it gets or how many trails they have to close
but when you endanger skiiers for the benefit of saying you have 72
trails open, there is something seriously wrong with the management!!!
Look, first of all I'm no Okemo fan - let's get that out right up front. That
said, I think you're being totally unrealistic.
Was it any secret that the east was experiencing "spring conditions" last
week? You're the same person who would be screaming if they shut down the
lift because of your little water puddle. To do so would be positively
ridiculous.
You know you've got warm temps, nothing they can do about that. Know what
happens to snow in warm air? It melts. Should you be surprised to find
water puddles on the hill? If you were surprised, you might want to take
up another sport - like knitting.
Skiing is a risk sport. Places like Okemo that pamper their guests have
created some "skiers" who seem to have forgotten that, but the fact remains.
It's not the job of the resort to prevent every possible injury. BTW, you
can get hurt knitting, too. Therefore maybe my suggestion for you was a
bad one.
What does it take to close a trail? In last week's conditions, I don't even
think some spots where walking is necessary is enough to close a trail. That
same condition when snowy winter conditions prevail would be a different
story. If you don't like marginal conditions, you always have a choice - you
can stay home.
Myself, I believe that there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing. Some are
simply better than others.

I agree, I live not an hour away, and went twice over xmas break. for $21
midweek for college students it's not bad, but as an ex racer, the
mountain isn't very challenging. The crowds are horrible, the busses from
the parking lots are like a Disney ride, with an announcer telling you
it's cold outside, no shit!, and the attendants seem to be assholes more
than they have been in the past. Waterville Valley is better at 26 or 29
bucks midweek and not nearly as crowded.

Anyhow, I read the previous post also and the point which I can relate to is
phoning up a ski hill to get the latest snow report ... which happens to
be totally bogus. Its not a problem if a person lives 5-15 minutes from
the hill/mountain but a lot of time people might be 2 hours away and
conditions can change quite a bit in two hours (especially out west).
Most people don't want to drive 2 hours with these high expectations, due
to the glorious snow report, to only find that it might be pissing rain
with hardly any runs open.
