I have been watching this NG, have not seen anything on it but spam, I say
we take it over and use it for posting pictures and other binaries.

Do you post pictures just like regular e-mails?

Why bother? We can either post them via tinypic.com and then post the
link here, or we can put them on a googlepages site... Google makes it
easy enough that *any* idiot should be able to do it... Hell, my 11 yr
old daughter is even able to handle it...

Yes, just add an attachment or paste it into the body if you are posting via
html.

Because it has scuba in the name, and it takes only a couple mouse clicks,
and because we can kick the nuts off the spammers.

What is your problem?

If it is a text newsgroup, many ISPs will automatically strip binary
postings to the newsgroup... The binary postings will not be archived,
thus after a certain point determined by each different news server,
the older ones will disappear... If it is worth posting, it is worth
keeping it around for a prolonged time...

According to
http://www.faqs.org/usenet/news.announce.newgroups/Bogus_Usenet_Groups/19981026,
this group is classified as 'bogus' and should be replaced with
rec.scuba.equipment... Basically, it's an orphaned name that should be
deleted...

Not all news servers carry it... Google Groups doesn't... Neither does
the RoadRunner news servers...

11... Not legal (nor survival oriented), so the rest really doesn't
matter, does it?

Is it better to do the sheep after you've cooked it than before?

For a classical (expiring) newsgroup, if its on-topic to scuba, you
should be able to use:

alt.binaries.images.underwater

Just be aware that Google doesn't archive most (all?) of the binaries
groups, so you'll need a regular news server account.
