My daughter, 12 and recently certified, wants to go to Roatan for 8 days to
attend a Marine Biology Research camp. Diving and snorkeling is included
everyday as well as working with dolphins. Anybody heard of this camp or had
any experience with it? Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Fred

I'm assuming the camp is at the 'Institute for Marine Sciences' or whatever
it is called, collocated with Anthony's Key Resort.

I was at AKR for a week a few years ago and went on a tour of the dolphin
research place & played with the dolphins in their pens. The lab looked OK as
far as I could tell -- decent sized, decent equipment, etc. but didn't seem to
be used much on a daily basis (other than as something to give AKR divers a tour
of!).

I wondered how much valuable, empirical research was conducted there, as
opposed to it being mostly a tourist attraction.

Either way, I'm assuming you want your 12 year old to have fun, and learn
something. I think both objectives could easily be met.

I'll assume that an adult guardian would be accompanying her down to Roatan...
