Please remember these thoughts next time we have a discussion about who else
is involved when a diver dies doing something that could have been easily
avoided.
We have received confirmation that Ron was using the home made rebreather
and he was diving solo.

Did a diver die doing something he loved or did he die doing someone who
loved him?
Remember when you dive solo you're also diving without your family.
There's a chance that could turn into a permanent situation.
Buy enough life insurance to provide for them after you fuck them over.

I've known Ron via the discussion lists for several years. He was
always willing to help anyone out looking for information on San Diego
diving.
I should also say that he was the consummate gentleman who rarely, if
ever, allowed himself to get dragged down into the mud on newsgroups
debates. That is something that we should all aspire to.
Insofar as the rest, it is far too early to speculate or point fingers.
Ron knew the risks of what he did and I also know that he also
recognized where the State had comprimised diver safety by closing one
of the safer shore dive access points due to "seal pollution" which I'm
not familiar with.
My heart goes out to Mary Ann and the family.
