Help. Many more years ago than I care to admit, I was a CIT and then a
camp counsellor for a Girl Scout camp in Michigan. I'm now a Ranger
leader in Ontario and I want to teach the song, "Spider's Web" to my
Rangers. I can only remember the chorus and some bits of verse. The
chorus is:

There's a web like a spider web
made of silk and light and shadow
spun by the moon in my room at night
It's a web made to catch a dream
hold it tight till I awaken
as if to tell me that dreamin's all right.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated since we're off canoing the May
20th weekend and I'd like to teach it to them then. Thanks.

Well you learned a slightly different chorus than the one I learned in
Sooner Council in Oklahoma. Here's what I remember:

There's a web like a spiders web
made of silken lining shadows
that I weave in my room each night

It's a web made to catch a dream

hold it there until I waken
Then to tell me my dream is all right

In a valley by a fountain
there's an old oak tree
In the valley by the fountain
Is where my love told me

Chorus

I met a stranger
His name was danger
We rode side by side
Then in Santa Fe
I killed a man one day
And I had to ride
If they catch me
They will hang me
By the old oak tree
In the valley, by the fountain
Where my love told me

Chorus

If this isn't what you learned maybe it will at least jog your memory.
Will you be at the Dorchester Camporee this weekend? I'm going with a
Cadette troop from Ann Arbor, MI.

Does anyone have the lyrics for the Girl Scouts Song, "Jamie Boy"?
My wife the Junior troop leader asked me this when I asked her if
she knew "Spider's Web".

Ah, memories! I had completely forgotten that song until I read your post. I
learned it at Camp Echo Trail in Penn Laurel Council back in the 70's pretty
much as Sara Crawford repeats it. The only difference is that we sang the
chorus as:

There's a web like a spider's web,
Made of silver light and shadow,
Spun by the moon in my room at night,
...
