International Camp in Berg (Luxembourg)
July 20th-30th 1994
On the occasions of the merger of the Luxembourg Girl Guides and Boy Scout federations and of the 75th Bithday of Scouting in Luxembourg,a big international camp will be held: ATLANTIS '94
It will take place in the village of Berg(Bierg).Those who came to the last international camp in Luxembourg,Jubica '82,will surely remember it for the excellence of the organisation and the beauty of the country.
The Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg is a small country(2582km^2,pop.~380000)
situated between France,Germany and Belgium.Thanks to its diverse and beautyful landscapes and its central location,it has acquired a reputation as 'The Green Heart Of Europe'.The southern part,with its iron-rich red rocks,is home to the steel industry,responsible in the past for the prosperity of the country.
In contrast,the northern part is sparsely populated and offers many untouched,green valleys and picturesque villages.
The fortress has owned the capital,Luxembourg-City,its name of 'Gibraltar of the North'and attracts many tourists.Today,the financial center of Luxembourg is host to 260 banks and internationally famed.Luxembourg is also well known for its broadcasts:RTL offers a variety of TV channels and radio stations in 5 languages,and the Astra satellites'50 TV channels are popular all over the continent.
The small village of Bierg (pop.:90,26 buildings) is located in the eastern part of the Grand-Duchy,known for its hilly landscape of meadows and forests.Along the river Mousel(Moselle,Mosel) excellent white wines are produced.
Atlantis '94 will be held July 20th-30th 1994.It is open to all Scouts and Guides aged 11 and up.So far,3143 people have joined.The possibility of home-hospitality is also given.
