I'm trying to find out just haw few Antelopes there are out there. I
just completed the practical portion of Wood Badge, and was an Antelope.
They told us that that was the first course with Antelopes since the late
1970's. Does anyone else out there know of some fellow Antelopes? If
so, do you know how to contact them?

Steven,
We have a whole patrol full of 'em in NE I-183. I'll be seeing them this
coming weekend, our last (10/11-13). But alas, they like all other WB
patrols must fall in behind the mighty Beaver Patrol. We even have a
staffer who used to be an antelope. I think that makes nine total in our
course alone. I do get a chuckle listening to them trying to sing the
Gilwell song. If you'd like me to pass some info on to them, I'd be glad
to.

Antelopes are also a rare breed in the Sacramento California area. I
used to be an Antelope from course WM-47-95 sponsored by the Golden
Empire Council. There were no Antelopes on staff and they could not
remember when the last Wood Badge course was held in the area that
included an Antelope patrol. As it was we only had 6 members of the
Antelope patrol.

Used to be an Antelope...Will always be an Eagle
In Wood Badge Course NE IV-88, conducted at Camp Wallace Oest by
Baltimore Area Council, We have a full patrol of 8 Antelope! We
also have 3 Antelope on staff. There are 63 in the course this
year.
We are a rare breed, but if we continue to get plenty of Scouters
to attend Wood Badge in the future, we will always have plenty
of fellow 'Lopes to join us in singing our verse of "Back to
Gilwell."

Only one more weekend of the practical left (Oct 18-20) and then
*I* can say "I *USED* to be an antelope" as I work my ticket!

I'm a Good Turn Antelope of NE-VI-38 in the Transatlantic Council in
Europe. My patrol had seven in it; back in 1994. The 1995 course had
one patrol but the 1996 course had only me on staff, no patrol :(
Congratulations on being in the best critter patrol.

>Steven,
You can find more information on the use of Wood Badge patrol names in
the Wood Badge Patrol Name Encyclopaedia at
http://www.mi.aau.dk/~jqrn/wbpatrols.html
For instance you will find, that Antelopes are only used in BSA
(either in the USA or in TAC).
Enjoy!
