I have been running regularly for the second time in my life for about 9
months. About a month ago, I experienced a sharp pain running along the
top of my left foot while relaxing (not running) at home. It happened
initially while I was raising my toes as if I was going to tap my foot.
Now this pain will not go away. It has made me tentative while running
and I believe has put some extra stress on other ligaments and muscles in
my ankle.

I have had some good runs since this problem arose, but the pain still
exists. Some days it is noticable all day, and some days it is completely
gone.

Can someone reccommend some excersises I can use to try and strengthen my
ankle? I feel that if I can do that, this will take care of the problem.
Someone please tell me if this the right approach.

Thanks - Scot

You may want to try using a good ankle support. Protective support is necessary if you
have instability in your ankle.
