This one isn't so much, imho, one to be worried about training for.
I don't remember the uphill. Being in the first two miles, unless
you're far to the front, it's too crowded for you to be doing much by
way of precision running. Jog as possible, walk when you can't carry
a good running stride (_this_ you should practice), and wait for it to
open up some for you to be able to run your good stride. Consider it
your warmup rather than the race.
The hills I remember as worth training for more specifically are:
Capitol Hill, the bridge, and the Iwo Jima hill. There are some
others, no doubt. They'll be on the map. But for me, the timing
and nature of those hills made them memorable.

Sagredo (Galileo Galilei) "You present these recondite matters with too much
evidence and ease; this great facility makes them less appreciated than they
would be had they been presented in a more abstruse manner." Two New Sciences
At least they cut short the Iwo Jima hill at the finish a couple of years
ago -- it used to go on *forever*.
& I was only doing the 5/8k race, not the marathon -- the first time, I knew
*nothing* about the course & got a rude shock at the end!
I have found a particular hill in my neighborhood to use for training for
such horrors (remember Burning Tree, or whatever it was?)

Hm. Didn't run that one. The comparable one that comes to mind
is on the Lake Needwood course, or a few spots on the Rock Creek
or Greenbelt Park trails. Turkey Burnoff has several good ones,
but not really on par with Iwo Jima, as I recall them.
