I know USENET is getting old and slowly being replaced by online forums
etc., but I still find this to be more convenient and a lot less
cluttered than say letsrun.com.
Hope everyone has a good weekend with their family and a productive long
run.

Same to you.
I was just out running on the trails ( late friday afternoon )
thinking of beer when my daughters cross country coach "flew" by. I
was trying hard not to dog it ( but it was a long week ) ... then Fred
just flies by.
I have run a couple of miles here and there with him but it looked
like he was working hard. You only get to run with people in the 2:20
marathon class when they want to let you eh?
With some luck Mr. Edmonds maybe you will be up there one of these
days!
Lots of good thoughtful discussions. We have had good weeks like this
in past years but not as often as we would like. Maybe we should do
some correlative analysis using stock market, global warming and
seasons.

I know Letsrun has some good stuff but I'm totally turned off with the
interface to the point I will not read it. I know. my loss. I'm
spoiled with some of others at least with format.

It's shaping up well. Not long back from a cracking little hill race and
off to a 21st birthday party in a few minutes. Possible muddy XC race
tomorrow.

So what's a muddy XC race mean to you exactly? Around here it would
mean possibly some sloppy parts of the course.
For you it might mean going thru bogs and swamps eh? Not going to see
much of that type of XC stuff in the states.
Meaningful conversations in a jogging group.................that's
cute. Absurd, but cute.

I thought we were awkward trotters ... have we improved up to the
jogging status in your mind now?
That's about what it was. Mud no more than ankle deep in a few places.
Cross country running seems to have been "sanitised" here in recent years.
I dare say there are still some very boggy courses (where shoes get lost
never to be seen again) but they seem to be a rarity. It's not that I
particularly enjoy XC racing but I feel that if a race is going to be
unpleasant, it should be *really* unpleasant. ;-)
