The first release had major durability & outsole lug placement problems,
but was excellent in everything else for a mid-distance trail shoe,
including the rock plate. I've been using the LaSportiva Helios in a
similar role lately, but I see now that the mid-sole EVA right under the
metatarsals is completely broken down in this pair, while the rest of the
shoe is hardly worn. That's very disappointing, as I haven't put that many
miles on them. Both these models have rock plates and some cushion.
