I'm planning on flying from Oklahoma to CP Memorial Day weekend. Is this a
good idea, honestly? Or should I wait for a slower time to visit the park?
For my work schedule, this trip would fit in place perfectly. I'm just very
paranoid that the park will be packed and the lines on all major coasters
will be a few hours long.

Has anyone on here experienced the park on Memorial Day in the past?
Thanks for the input.

Brett:

I'm doing the same sans flying. I have heard that MDW is usually dead,
with the exception being last year. Hopefully someone can toss some
more info. our way.

Crowds both at PKI and CP can be quite variable that weekend. Once I went to
PKI on the Sunday and the place was empty! Another time it poured Sat and
Sun, so Monday was busy at the Point.

Bring a warm jacket: there'll be a cold wind coming off Lake Erie.

In my experience, Cedar Point is crowded almost all the time, especially on any
weekend. My guess is that Memorial Day weekend shouldn't be too bad, at least
not as bad as 4th of July. Get to the park early and maybe plan two days in
the park to get the most out of it. The park is very good at keeping the lines
moving, keeping you entertained in line, and keeping as many trains on the
tracks as possible. You might not ride EVERY SINGLE coaster, but there's
always next summer. :-)

True for weekends, but I was amazed at how light the crowds were the 2 times I
went in mid-June ('98-'99). Magnum was 2 train wait all day. Raptor about the
same. Mean Streak was a walk on. We went for 2 consecutive days each of those
years (Th & Fr).

Agreed. Took me two years to get them all in. Though I've done 'em all, from
Jr. Gemini to Millennium Force :)

Will be back in August, for TTD. Looking forward to it!

Richard

Been there, done that. Was there the Sunday before Memorial Day and on
Memorial Day Monday. Not bad at all. I took two days to do the park, and
while I was suffering from anticipointment, I had a good time. Longest wait
was about an hour for Mean Squeak, and was including a breakdown. Millennium
Force was about an hour as well.

I used to go to CP around my birthday, which is June 17th. I would go
up on Friday night, and get the Starlight pass. I would get to ride
every coaster several times that night. The saturday was sometimes
crowded, but nothing like I saw when I went up for Halloweekend this
past year!
