Got unconfirmed news today that Raging Wolf Bobs at Geauga Lake
derailed either late yesterday or early today. Supposadly the ride is
done for the year and somewhat serious train and track damage took
place- it was the last car of one of the two trains that derailed
bringing the train to a slow, grinding hault in one of the ride's mid
course turnarounds.

Wow! Interesting news there. Were people on the train that derailed or
was this during test runs?

Well, I am sure this incident will only bring more shame to an already
shameful coaster (my opinion at least).

Confirmed. Looked like pretty serious damage to the train and track. No
serious injuries. Train covered by a shroud, still on the track. Expect a
lot of documentation from ACErs that were at the park today for Coaster EXT.

That is all.

Got to the park around 2, left at 4. I saw that RWB was closed, but didn't
investigate further to see why. Not much of a ride, but still sad...

Did RWB run any better with the Gerstlauer trains?

Didn't Martin & Vleminckx recently retrack all three of the woodies at
GL? How are they running now?

How is the Villain with its new straight track (bye bye, trick track)?

I was at EXT and from what I saw there were NO injuries other than
bumps and bruises (possibly) The park responded commendably when the
problem arose, from what I could see the ride may have 100 to 200 feet
of track repair needed prior to a return to service.

It seemed to when I rode it last fall, but you could still hear the G-trains
beating up the track. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the G-trains wearing
on the track caused the derailment.

While I didn't get a chance to ride RWB, since I didn't ride before
the incident that day, I can say that the park's other 2 wood coasters
are smoother now than my last visit which was in 2001. ERT on Coaster
EXT was changed to Villain, Big Dipper, Dominator and Thunderhawk,
instead of Villain, Raging Wolf Bobs, Dominator, and Thunderhawk.

Villain is still quite painful, although better than my rides in 2001.
For some reason I thought they were given PTC trains at some point
after my 2001 visit, but apparently I thought wrong. Maybe one day,
though, I can hope.

The park looked quite nice in general. Operation of Texas Twister was
superb, as it was in my first visit in 1997. I was expecting a cycle
similar to Hang Time at Dorney, but to my surprise, they were
operating multiple flip cycles all day. Great job, GL! Not sure I like
the new orange paint job though, doesn't quite fit the "Texas Twister"
theme in my opinion. Oh well.

A trainload of ACErs chanting "Beaver! Beaver!" on the BLMR was quite
interesting. Even the ops were laughing at the silliness.

The park seemed very uncrowded for a Saturday in mid June. Even though
it has what I call "Dorney Park guest flow" meaning the waterpark is
full and the dry park is uncrowded until the waterpark closes the then
coasters and dry rides get packed later, it still felt too empty. The
waterpark seemed decently busy (although no line at Dino Island II),
but the dry park never got crowded, even afterwards. My first isit to
GL was June 1997 on a Saturday, and it was much, much more crowded.

The loss of Bell Aire is a sad one (perhaps more then SUE and X-
Flight). With those rides gone and Skyscraper down indefinitely, its
hard to believe that the last time I was there in 2001, that was the
crazy busy section of the park. Very, very strange. The park really
needs something in that section of the park.

I finally got my "Boomerang" credit! It took 3 visits over 10 years, 3
park names, and 2 ride names for me to finally get it though.
