hopefully the whole park burnt down! ths is my wish, please come true
In article <6vif7m$kem$1...@nnrp1.dejanews.com>,
Just curious but the Gold Rusher is built over part of LeCachot, and directly
behind it! There had to be some damage to that ride, either water or smoke
damage! Does anyone know how big the fire actually was and what started it?

Hey, this is my first post here, and I know it's kind of weird to flame someone
as a first post, but why the hell would you want KW to burn down??
I lived in the McKeesport/Liberty/Lincoln Borough area (read: 20 minutes from
KW) for 14 years and I find you said very offensive.

This is not a flame but, would the person from Western Michigan who posted it
kindly explain why they made such a ridiculous comment.

None of the Gold Rusher is over Le Cachot although it might appear that
way. I had the behind the scenes tour and it was obvious once inside.
The local news said the fire was quickly contained and no other rides
were damaged. Since Le Cachot has its own building Gold Rusher wouldn't
have to have smoke or water damage. We'll have to check out the
newspaper tomorrow to see if there is any more info. I bet the fire
had something to do with the dismantling.

What's wrong with worshipping satin? I do. It's so comfortable. I
love how it feels after a long, hard day at work. It just caresses
your body with the gentlest touch.
HAIL SATIN!
Let me clarify my previous statement...it WAS a flame. An asinine comment
like that begs for so many flames that...ok, I can see a really bad pun
coming up here...
To KW, I am happy that it was something that was being dismantled. your Park
is a wonderful place to visit with some great coasters. it also reminds me of
Palisades Amuseement Park more than any other place I ve been to, so KW has a
special place in my heart

What do boats have to do with all this? Wasn't Le Cachot a car-based

*** Hmmm, Kennywood's dark rides seem somewhat fire prone, considering
that The "Ghost Ship" burned in 1975. I am also surprised that Kennywood
didn't sell or preserve this ride considering their careful attention and
preservation of the past.
Glad to hear damage was minimal.

In fact, Richard, *all* dark rides and funhouses are apparently
fire-prone. My understanding is that dark rides are typically the worst
insurance risk in the entire park due to the combined problems of fire and
vandalism. I think it has something to do with the fact that the scenery
inside a dark ride is quite often flammable...

That is true. There have been many darks at parks all over the world that have
been destoryed by fire! For example the Rumpus, Idlewild Parks only dark ride
was destoryed by a fire in 1946.

Six Flags Great Adventure- Head for the Thrills!
Damage was minimal??!! LOL!! Folks, the Le Cachot building was already
almost completely torn down when the fire broke out! Only some of the
steel framing was left intact. The big blaze, (which was only a very
small smoldering fire on one of the exposed beams) was probably caused
by sparks from the cutting torches the workers were using to disassemble
the framework. And...Get ready for the big new thrill ride that will
replace Le Cachot!! It's called, "Extra Seating Tables for the Potato
Patch"! Wooooo! Awsome!
I can see Kennywood wanting to use the space for something else but
it bothers me that le Cachot won't be rebuilt according to what I've
heard. Put up a pre-fab building over by the pavillions and put the
ride in there. Otherwise I think it would be a good ride to put in at
Idlewild. They have plenty of space.
The visitors that were polled at KP regarding the Le Cachot dark ride
described it as "cheezy", "junky", "sucks", etc. In fact, even the
maintenance employees at KP dubbed the ride "Le Ca-junk" and "Le
Ca-shot". Most of the scenes were dry-rotted, falling apart, and didn't
work, the roof leaked on them, and even the wood floor was rotted, so
there was very little worth saving.
Kennywood had originally contracted a big special effects artist to
re-do the entire ride as "The Dark Castle" with more up to date,
sophisticated, really scary, animated scenes. From what I was told, a
really cool proposal was presented that was quickly approved by park
officials, but at the last minute, the deal was off due to the added
cost to improve the structure of the building and the fact that there
was just too much congestion in that area. A kick-ass ride would just
make things worse. So they decided to open up the space for traffic and
make more room for the Potato Patch patrons. Now I guess we wait to see
what happens with the new 'Exterminator' indoor coaster ride. According
to the original R&R designs, it's suppose to have a ton of cool
high-tech special effects inside. So far though, the word is that no one
has even been contracted to do these effects yet!! Now, almost
mid-October, with six months til the season opening, seems time is
running out to have anything of quality. I'm betting that, on opening
day, it will just be pitch black inside with maybe a flashing light or
two. That's a shame, because there is really a lot of poential there to
be a really cool ride if they do it right!
I also heard that the area was going to be used for another seating area,
However reports on both local TV stations and newspapers reported that LCachot
was being torn down to make room for a new ride. This makes me wonder, the
local TV stations and newspapers usally do a good job getting FACTS. Could the
plans maybe have changed? And they are adding another new ride? I am just
wondering where they got their information? 99% of the time they are correct.
TBCM4001
Someone has been contracted to do the special effects work on the Exterminator.
The ride is going to be like an underground setting with sewers, electric, and
broiler rooms.

More KP news. Because of all the structural problems last season with
the Steel Phantom, KP installed additional brakes on the track to slow
down the Phantom at critical points. The idea unfortunately isn't
working. Also, the Jackrabbit is getting a fair amount of new wood,
mostly the raised beams under the steel rails. A new car is being
constructed by the parks carpenters as well.
Tthe new wild mouse ride is going to be palced in Lost Kennywood, behind the
Pittsburg Plunge.

Buzzzzz! Sorry wrong. R&R Designs did drawings of the settings you
speak of, but R&R does not do any physical construction. No ones been
contracted yet to actually construct the scenes and time is running out
if KP is going to have anything that matches the quality of the designs.
They did have someone to do the work a while back, but things changed
and a contract was never made.
And BTW, it's a "boiler" room (with a giant furnace), not "broiler".

*** Good point. Now that you mention it, I do recall a number of
accidents in fun houses, especially that bad one at Great Adventure. Was
it eight who died?

*** Oh, what I was actually referring to was the fact that no other
rides or structures caught fire.
