In the starting helix, the second layer of pressure treated lumber
has been started and work on this will continue as the first layer's
completion allows
Aside from the loading barn, the last remaining bents to be built
and erected are tricky ones. These are where the switches will be to
get the trains on and off the service track.
Even if the service track is not built for a while after the ride is
running, the switches for it must be designed in and installed now.
From what I understand the lower switch will require a sliding
double trough section to accomplish what needs to get done.
No official word on the train yet, but from the way the push has
come on to get the brake run taken care of, and the main lift hill
tracked, it seems that the prototype train might get delivered for
testing any day now.
I can hardly wait 8-)
No pictures added to the web page yet. Prob not til next week as I'm
going to Florida for a couple of days and won't be working up at
Knoebels this weekend 8-(

It appears that they have drilled for all the remaining footers and
are prepping them for what could be the last concrete pour. The
brackets are in for the side friction track on the second lift. They
have already laid track and even put down the metal strip for the road
wheels on one side. Looks like things are moving quickly, and we could
probably see new bents for the other 2 lifts and the station going up
next week. I will be in the area Memorial Day weekend and will see how
far along they are.

So you mean it's not going to make it's announced 2006 opening date?

As I recall, they never announced a date, basically saying it would be
done when it was done, but that is just my recollection.
There was never an announced date. As John Fetterman once said, it's
been planned for 30 years, there's no hurry. Unlike some parks,
Knoebel's is going to do it right the first time no matter how long it
takes.
