In article <20000821173155...@ng-fz1.aol.com>,
Rye is a small but beautiful art-deco traditional amusement park on the
LI Sound. It's incredibly well kept. They have a wonderful collection
of old flat rides, including an Old Mill, Derby Racer, and Whip. They
also have a house of mirrors and two ride-through dark houses. The
primary coaster is the Dragon, which is a 1928 Prior and Church - it is
a VERY mild double figure 8 Woodie with Morgan trains. They also have
a small Wildcat steel coaster and a flume. I've attached a link:

I will be there on Monday, September 4th with Matthew "Mamoosh" Sullivan

You should also be aware that Rye Playland only sells Pay-Per-Ride tickets
-- there is no Pay-One-Price for unlimited rides. That isn't necessarily a
bad thing, however.

Correction:
In a ddition to the Dragon Coaster (a fun ride!), Rye Playland has a S&MC
Windsotrm called the Hurricane Coaster, it is NOT a Wildcat.

It is a very nice place to go, they have an 85 foot S&S tower, new this year.

Other rides of note: Derby, Old Mill, 2 ride thru sppok houses (decently done),
a flume, a house of mirrors, Chaos, Chance Thunderbolt, Gravotron, Tomahawk,
and go-karts.

Hey, you forgot the Kiddie Coaster! Its a PTC model I think. But you won't get
on. No adult EVER gets on.

The Kiddie Coaster is a Darling coaster. Literally - it was designed by
one Frank Darling, who had acquired L.A. Thompson's company after the
Father of Coasters had passed on. It also runs a kiddie version of
NAD's Century Flyer, so there's no PTC involvement here.

I am not an adult and I have a 3 year old niece I have been pretty darn good at
getting on any kiddie coaster I want.

This kiddie coaster you can ride if you are under 54 inches, or you
know who to get in touch with.

This one is different. You either need special permission or a fist-full of
Franklins to board. They are EXTREMELY strict up at Rye.

Is it worth it? The money I mean?

For the park as a whole? I think so. Its two credits on the ol' coaster count
for me. I did it alongside the packed Westchester County Fair this year. That
seems like the only way to go there.
