A slightly longer answer than that:
They replaced the Morgan trains with the current PTC trains. While the PTC
trains were *much* more comfortable for the riders in terms of padding (the
Morgans had none), the PTC trains didn't track as well as the Morgans. They
were causing excessive wear on the track, especially in the original crazy
first drop/turn/drop combo. After a season or two of the trains killing the
track, they neutered the first drop into what it is today (and did so on the
cheap, leaving most of the original track in place, they didn't even *paint*
the old track white for most (if not all) of that first season.
I've always wondered if they could purchase new trains that were both
comfortable *and* tracked well, would they go through the trouble to restore
that first drop to what it was? (I highly doubt it)

I should not read such comments during breakfast. I nearly expelled
my Cheerios through my nose, and peed my pants in laughter at the
possiblity of this ever being considered (never mind actually being
done)!
The park didn't paint the track until much later. Maybe 05 when Swat/
Catapult came in and they redid the whole area of the park moving
Cyclones entrance, again.. And giving the handrails that darkblue-
green look. Not the light skyblue the handrails had always been in the
past.
Drop was changed after the 2000 season. Guaranteed.

Agreed, it only ran one season with the new PTC's before it got neutered.
Rich
For all the bitching and moaning about the Morgan trains, it was a top
ten coaster until 1999.
R.Cyclone ran three benches PTC train(s) 1983 and 1984, tracked
better than the present two benches PTC trains??????
Well, to be fair, there is a factor there of "brand new coaster".
How about same fix it up like they are going to fix up Texas Giant?
> They already did that at SFNE........... on Superman, sadly
The changes to TX Giant he's referring to is the new track design,
which from what I can gather will be similar to Intamin's Plug-n-Play
system (hopefully the park will give more details soon). If it works
well on TX Giant I would love to see Six Flags use it on other
"problematic" coasters such a Cyclone.
Wanted to share video . I rode it when it was spanking new back in
1983 .
Here is the link. Really tumbling, rough filming, Portable VCR lost a
frame or so.

Definitely the definition of "different strokes"...that video has me
wincing in pain in remembering my single ride in the back seat of that
thing (2003) but to others it loks like fun..LOL!
You know, I'd always *heard* about the shoulder belts they added to the
trains soon after opening, but I think this might be the first I've actually
SEEN them...
