When she was 8 years old Eleanor went out to play on the farm that her parents
had in Prince Georges County MD. Somehow she travelled too far from the house,
lost her direction on a hot mid-june day and eventually died of exposure on
June 15th. She is buried on the property.

beginning in 1986 as I got to know employees of Wild World, I began hearing
stories of Eleanor. Eleanor is said to be a playful ghost, and not a harmful
one. but on the anniversary of her death THINGS HAPPEN. two years ago on June
15th, as the employees were preparing the park for opening, suddenly all the
power in the park went out momentarily. This was the day that they were
installing the 2nd chain on Superman Ride of Steel (which broke two days later)
AND that same day a raft flipped on the renegade rapids ride, with no serious
injuries involved. Other stories in the past include, a Mishap on the Mind
Eraser roller coaster on June 15th. and a sighting of Eleanor standing in the
middle of a turntable of the Typhoon Seacoaster.

Many employees that I've asked have told me that they have heard giggling and
other vocalizations while alone in the park.

Hall Mansion, Eleanors house, still stands on the Six Flags America property,
as does her tombstone.

Wondering what wierd thing will happen Saturday...........

Does anyone know if there are any photos of the Hall Mansion on the web? If so,
please share the URL because I love the idea of a real haunted house on park
property.

Also, can visitors to Six Flags America go up to or inside the Hall Mansion?

If anyone visits the park on 6-15-02, please share with us any unusual things. I
love a good ghost story, especially when it's about an amusement park!

When I worked for Wild World (summer of 1986) the story was Eleanor feel out
of her bedroom and cracked her skull and died later of brain hemorage (sp?).
Eleanor aparently began to get extemely upset after a tractor building "Wild
World" drove over and cracked her tombstone. June 15th, was also the day a
kid drowned in the wave pool (the first death in the wave pool) and the
summer I worked there a car caught fire in the parking lot. After I Ieft
Wild World, I never kept up with Eleanor and her shenanigans. Those Sam
mention are interesting.

Glad to hear the mansion still stands. Surprised it has not been torn down.
Wish Six Flags would remodel it and turn it into something useful. Who
knows, maybe that will sooth Eleanor's sole.

It's barely standing, and the state has a 1 acre historical site surrounding
it, at one point SFA planned to restore it and use it for administration.

On a lighter note, the death in the wave pool is the only death that may
involve eleanor. Everything else was like a playful prank, with no serious
injuries involved.

A comfortable pair of shoes might be more effective.

I think it would be great if they made Eleanor's house into a haunted dark
ride...

I know.

I was scanning the thread and thought "When did he come back to r.r-
c?" and then saw the date -- 2002. Oh.

I worked as a security guard at 6 flags when it was Adventure World. The Elanor story is 100% correct. Stuff used to happen all the time. Get a call to the main locker rental after a tornado 07/27/1994 for the report of a lost girl, who appeared to be in costume...no girl found but clothing was correct for Elanor time period. Get a call for a child playing in the storage room where the developed the film for the scopes. Op en the door no little girl there, attic door open no kid in attic. Rides turning them selves on in the midle of the night when security were the only ones there. No one ever feels threatened, she just likes to play jokes.

All i know is that my boss (John Davis) was working on the Whirling Dervish (circa 1984) when he was stumped. He thought that placing flowers on Eleanor’s grave might change his luck. The next day, the ride worked without a problem. John felt a tingle on his neck, looked up, and saw the EXACT flowers he put on Eleanor’s grave stuck in the fence around the ride.

No kidding, this happened! I’m Jimbo who used to work w/ John maintaining electrical systems and John told me the story numerous times.

I’ll leave it up to the reader to determine if you believe it o not...your choice.
